345s have emergency couplers which are ridiculously located in one of the central carriages underneath some passenger seats. Imagine trying to retrieve that on a stranded train packed with 1000 passengers.
There are places trains can be reversed in the tunnels however the main problem is having the drivers in the right place to run them. It’s very difficult to run an unplanned ‘shuttle service’ when drivers are massively misplaced due to the disruption, need breaks, have passed or are approaching...
The journey times between Ealing Broadway/AML and Paddington are a complete joke. A journey that used to take 7/8 mins max can now take close to 20 on some services. Hugely increasing journey times into central London from all the west stations.
I can understand a wait once in the talent pool. That’s the nature of a talent pool. Just assumed the recruitment process to get there might be a bit faster and people wouldn’t be left in limbo.
55k full salary with Sundays inside the working week is fast becoming a very poor pay packet in comparison to other TOCs operating on that same line. With inflation running at 8%+ HEX drivers should be expecting a pay rise.
How do you know the speed of the trains you are travelling on? You may feel acceleration but this could be from say 20mph and by the time the train has gone beyond 30mph it is now beyond the 75 board?
Thank you for your replies. Funnily enough I was actually 20 mins early into Edinburgh yesterday morning. That didn’t help me getting to Glasgow any earlier though and I arrived at 0838. I will apply for delay repay in due course and update here for anybody interested.

The incident itself had nothing to do with trail running and was just a movement taking place within the depot. Trail running has been disrupted only due to the reduced amount of trains that can come and go from the depot as a result.
