I will admit I haven’t had a chance to read the report yet. As somebody that signs this route my first thought was the driver may have got the speed confused with the Up avoiding line which breaks off the UM Just after Pl1 at Ilford and rejoins the UE around Manor Park. The max speed over these...
But how is a travelling member of the public supposed to know that a genuine ID is a genuine ID and a fake is a fake if they have nothing to base it on or compare it to?
What pains me is seeing people pay for the Heathrow express from T4 (from which it doesn’t run). You have to take the EL to T2/3 to catch the HEX but then have an almost 15 minute wait on the platform. You end up arriving at Paddington just a few minutes before the EL you got off at t2/3 to...
It’s absolutely despicable that somebody should go to work and lose their life in such violent circumstances. It was only a few months ago that a couple of staff members were seriously assaulted just a few stops away on this line and now this. Large parts of the rail network are now practically...

Yes this is still the case. You have a...
345s have emergency couplers which are ridiculously located in one of the central carriages underneath some passenger seats. Imagine trying to retrieve that on a stranded train packed with 1000 passengers.
There are places trains can be reversed in the tunnels however the main problem is having the drivers in the right place to run them. It’s very difficult to run an unplanned ‘shuttle service’ when drivers are massively misplaced due to the disruption, need breaks, have passed or are approaching...
The journey times between Ealing Broadway/AML and Paddington are a complete joke. A journey that used to take 7/8 mins max can now take close to 20 on some services. Hugely increasing journey times into central London from all the west stations.
I can understand a wait once in the talent pool. That’s the nature of a talent pool. Just assumed the recruitment process to get there might be a bit faster and people wouldn’t be left in limbo.
55k full salary with Sundays inside the working week is fast becoming a very poor pay packet in comparison to other TOCs operating on that same line. With inflation running at 8%+ HEX drivers should be expecting a pay rise.
