Bradley Chord:- for how long was it disused?

Not only the Bradford-Stockports, but there was also an almost hourly dmu service from Bradford Exchange to Huddersfield via Halifax, with some extending to Penistone, running until about the same time.

    Clergy and railways.

They were indeed. They transformed travel between Lancashire & Yorkshire when introduced, but unfortunately by the early 1970s when I observed them[and rode in them], were becoming more unreliable.

Stations with modernised Platform Lights, Clocks and other modern items that didn't survive?

Sheffield Victoria had some "modern" lighting and waiting rooms.

    Clergy and railways.

Someone once said the rural C of E was rather like the GWR in pre-Beeching days. The infrastructure was there, but crumbling, and an enthusiastic faithful staff provided a regular service to each village no matter how small, day in and day out in all weathers, regardless of any takers. I was...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

I note the revised EX1 service is still omitting to serve one of the larger settlements en route - Lynton. Upon inauguration, Lynton was timetabled to be served, but after the first fortnight or so, the route was changed to go direct from Lynmouth to Barbrook. Was this change of heart because of...

Thank you, both of you, for your replies. Presumably they're waiting until they can move the buses back to Minehead, as they'd be too much dead running out of Yeovil. It was running this time last year, although Easter was earlier then.

Does anyone have any information as to whether this service is to restart this year? I've enjoyed a couple of trips on it in past years and wouldn't mind another this summer?

    RMT Strike (Avanti) February

Although I doubt those left to hang around Chester station for an hour for an on-going train to North Wales will not be quite so impressed when one of your three, the 1801 off Euston deposits them there!

    1I10 0722 Holyhead-Birmingham International - 20th December - Prestatyn

Yes. I wondered about that. As far as I can discern, there were three trains waiting at some stage, but with Sheridan I wonder if it was worth it for 2 mins or so. Yet I suppose its always easier to regulate trains from one's fireside and comfortable armchair!

    1I10 0722 Holyhead-Birmingham International - 20th December - Prestatyn

Does anyone know why this train was ordered to omit its Prestatyn stop this morning? It was during single-line working due to a suspected track defect on the up line, and thus all trains were using the down line, resulting in stopping at the "wrong" side of the island platform at Prestatyn. But...
