GBRf Class 99 - 30 locomotives now ordered

I have seen online "suggestions" about the 99021-99030 being built with ETS but it is probably supposition, and I would have expected GBRf to have specified it at the contract stage. However, I believe there is a gap between building the first few of the class, and the rest, in order for tweaks...

37057 split box removal to be done by the end of the year

Ahh I see. Perhaps that might be the reason why the 60s have rocked up at Colwick for stripping. Diversifying ?

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

Option 2 - surely could be resolved by ROG leasing wagons from the same companies that other FOCs use. There seem to be loads and loads of shiny new (but already graffiti'd) box wagons floating around. Videos shot at Stafford seem to feature loads of examples so I assume ROG could approach...

37057 split box removal to be done by the end of the year

Would it not be done at Colwick by BRE - where 37099 was done ?

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

It does actually. Up until modern AC drives came into being in the UK, we could be forgiven for thinking that more and more horsepower from the diesel engine output shaft was needed to get perfomance. But maybe the 2400hp QSK50 married to clever traction electronics is the key to the future in...

    Class 67 Locomotive Questions.

Agree Rich. The problem for anyone wishing to save a 67 will be a power unit for it. I think the 67s will only be of use to DBC whilst TfW want to use them, and they still have a decent power unit - the latter becoming a valuable spare for the class 66 fleet.

    Class 67 Locomotive Questions.

Seriously ? Why ? Heavy axleweight, awkward cabs, awful yinging !!! Each to their own I guess, but I would prefer any long stored diesel to be restored for a preserved railway, and type 2 diesels are perfect for preserved lines.

    Bus driver uniforms

Tend to see NXWM bus drivers more than others and they seems to be a mix of shirt and tie, and polo. I think that when NXWM introduced the Platinum brand the drivers all seemed to look very smart with collar and tie, but since NXWM have been branding everything silver grey IMHO the very smart...

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

Perhaps that was from a few months or a couple of years ago, so apologies if they are back to hauling boxes. Recent videos of DRS trains through Stafford suggest there are as many 68s and 88s on the Tesco trains.

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

Oh. Of course Mark Probably isn't the most appropriate use fiscally I agree, but the infrastructure services work would at least bring some funds into the balance sheet. On te face of it these ten 93s were possibly to be joined by another twenty options. Someone within ROG / Star clearly...

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

I am afraid you misread me. I meant the monday to friday infrastructure services which run from yard to yard. At the moment these have contracts in place with Colas, DRS and GBRf but the Doncaster-Millerhill 6S31 could run on AC for the majority of the way. also thinking of Kingmoor - Basford...

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

The use of infrastructure vehicles as loaded test trains for the class 93 is very interesting and perhaps points to something I hadn't considered. A numbert of people have been speculating over the last couple of years as to what sort of trains ROG could deploy the 93s onto. Perhaps Network...

    Class 175 to GWR

Wasn't the loss of the 387s due to their replacement on the Reading-Paddington route by the Crossrail class 345s though ? So although GWR lost fleet, they also lost the services associated with that route, which obviously lost a number of the fleet.

    BR 21T Hopper Diagrams

Interesting project. Which scales will you be working towards? Accurascale are producing some versions of the BR builds in OO and Hornby have previously produced the ex NE "high handbrake" 21T hoppers. I assume you are looking at another scale, but the fiddly part with the BR versions are the...
