Regarding the SNCF journey planning logic - I can’t get the SNCF journey planner to offer the first journey below. Is it to do with a maximum allowed journey time on local trains?

From Saumur Rive Droit to Rennes on 17/03/2024:

Journey 1

15:40 - 18:02 | 2h 22m | 1 transfers

TER60115

TER57720

Journey 2

15:46 - 19:09 | 3h 23m | 2 transfers

TER59015

TGV 8880 R

TGV 8067 R

Hi I've just looked this up in the SNCF app and the 1540 departure via Angers arrival Rennes 1802 on 17/03/2024 is shown, furthermore it offered me a ticket for this journey.
So it looks like it's due to run!

My app shows it when you ask for timetables only, but doesn't when you check prices. Same on the website. Forcing TER produces no results.
There was an app update a few days ago so maybe that's the difference.
SNCF have always had a heavy preference for TGV. They use a Hacon backend, just like DB, but it's heavily crippled.

Yes I had to update app today before I reached the page which I screen-shotted in the reply above.
As you can see the fare is quite a bit cheaper on the op's preferred service!

Thank you! I think you maybe have a discount on there because the other services are cheaper as well

This has now become more bizarre - when I look again at journey 1, SNCF has introduced a 2 hour wait for a TGV at Laval, despite the TER 857720 continuing on from Laval.

Weird, SNCF is a law unto itself. Yes I have an avantage senior card, well worth it, you can buy online if you qualify (age!!).
