I think having to add the Railcard ever time is by far the better approach.

And yet, passengers booking frequently really don't like it because it wastes their time. I've seen complaints along the lines of the below on multiple occasions:

I should also point out that railcards are not "saved" like the previous iteration of the app, so I have to select my railcard every time I open the app. It really is a lot less user-friendly for me than the previous version. There didn't seem to be any issues with it so I have to ask the question "why was it changed?"

I use the app several times a week and it's much worse now than it was before.

Tempting to just add preferences for these sorts of "contentious" features and just ask customers what they want the first time they use a railcard.

On the whole, I prefer a site or app that can remember my railcard. It's rather a pain having to add it every time, especially when it has to be from somewhere in a long list.

Yeah on uber, you have to add the railcard each time manually
That doesn't appear to be the case for me.

just to be clear, I don't have a problem with the way it's designed, it's just not what I'm used to. This was totally my error.

That said, if it clears the railcard every time, I'd also question whether it should clear the number of passengers back to one adult. I think it was the fact it had remembered the number of people but not the railcard that threw me.

(A while ago I did once calm down a colleague having a rant about train fares having gone up AGAIN, when it transpired her app has got stuck on one adult& one child after having taken her granddaughter out once and forgotten to put it back again...)

I made a change to an Advance ticket (same train, Standard Advance to First Advance) and was surprised to see Uber don’t charge a change fee.

Full original ticket cost refunded.

Do you get an email when the 10% credit is applied to your Uber account?
I got a push notification on my phone once (but only once!). No email.

Otherwise you can go into Account > Uber Credits, and see each one added to your balance.

Hi,

Recently I've been using Uber Trains Ticketing to get my tickets due to the 10% cashback and avios offer.

I've been adding the tickets to my apple wallet, but have noticed that they don't automatically 'expire' like ones from LNER, Cross Country, Virgin Trains Ticketing etc. do.

Is this a known fault, and is there a way to fix it without removing the ticket manually please?

Thank you

Anyone not had the credit back yet for journeys in the past few weeks? It's been much slower than normal for me.

I haven't had any credit for ages yeah. Nothing in the whole of March according to the history - despite purchasing several tickets.

I used the Uber app for the first time today. At the very end it said there had been an error and the transaction had failed.
I was in the middle of trying again and noticed that an email arrived with the confirmation and collection code of the original attempt. There's also a pre-auth on my credit card, so I guess it didn't fail after all. Oops.

I've had the same thing. Is there a way of contacting Uber or whichever third party they use for these ticket sales?

Yeah, but idk whether it is Uber or Omio to contact for this. Each hands off cases to the other - I.e., no, we are X, you need to contact Y for this.

For those such as ourselves, where I will use a Senior Railcard when travelling alone, or my wife's Disabled Railcard when travelling together, it is a pain having to check each time which railcard it has remembered. Even worse are apps such as Northern's which remember if the last tickets you bought were for two adults and one child and automatically reapply that combination to the next ticket you buy.

I got a reply:

"I am sorry to hear that you did not receive the 10% cashback for any of your recent trips. The cashback promotion is still going, but currently there is an issue with the system, and the cashbacks are not provided to the customers. Uber are aware of the problem, and they are working on resolving it. The cashbacks will be issued as soon as the issue is resolved. Unfortunately, we do not have a timeframe for that yet. Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Your patience is appreciated."

Sounds like it is a global issue - hopefully it gets resolved soon.

I’ve been getting cash back on the 10th day after the day of travel whereas before it was usually 5-7 days. Not too bothered as long as it turns up. Agree with the functionality point it does tend to forget the railcard sometimes…

Amazon is currently selling Uber gift cards for a 10% discount. I’m not sure if you can stack this to get the 10% Cashback as Uber credits as well, but given it’s the same discount I suppose it avoids the risk that Uber terminate the deal. You have to add the gift cards to your account as a promo code rather than as Uber money as the latter is not redeemable on trains.

Apparently Uber would like to charge me £69 for an off-peak return journey from Burgess Hill to Tottenham Court Road.

I could get an Anytime Z1-6 Travelcard for less than this! And this is with my 16-25 Railcard, supposedly!

It's trying to sell me 2 anytime singles (£34+£35), but at no point gives me details on what those tickets even are.

Uber is a 9.09% discount I reckon, hopefully should stack though!

ChatGPT was handy for working out which tickets the money related to.

From my spreadsheet of tickets paid with Uber, I asked it "I have the following list of numbers: 10.76 4.17 4.17 3.12 0.55 0.93 4.38 1.04 0.59. What combination totals 14.79?" and came back with the right answer.

I redeemed my Amazon voucher as Uber Money and now I can’t see a way of spending Uber Money on train tickets. It doesn’t come up as a method of payment when I buy tickets.

You can’t I’m afraid. As per my post that you quoted, you have to redeem it as a promo code and not as Uber Money.

What's the trick to ensure the gift card goes to Uber credits rather than Uber money?

I redeemed as a promo code and it went to my money balance, not credits.

(Wish I hadn't opted in to Money now)

I just did exactly the same thing - very frustrating!

You have to add the gift card at the point of purchasing the train tickets, rather than beforehand. When you come to pay, you can select gift card at that point.

NB you can also use Uber Money for Uber Eats orders - for me this will be more useful as I very rarely take an actual Uber. If you order for collection on Uber Eats it doesn't charge any service or delivery fee (although the food prices might still be slightly marked up compared to buying direct)
