Did anyone manage to catch if this was a 507 on the following ECS move this morning or if there was a 507 on Kirkdale depot this afternoon?

I think this move may take place in order to provide a unit to work the final Liverpool Central to Southport service this evening (2S71).

About 1pm lunch time 507028 was sat on its own at Kirkdale along with a number of 777’s

same question applies to 011, why’s that not been repaired after almost 4 weeks, 507018 two weeks as well
Presumably lack of available parts. At this late phase in life its more a case of is it worth spending time/money on or better just scrapping them, seeing as they've got less than 2 months to go.

Rail replacement buses between Southport and Hillside till the 5th whilst contractors lengthened platforms 2 & 3 to accommodate 8car 777's. In the sidings 507011 & 014 plus 5 x 777's.

Anybody know the issue with 507016? Heard it’s under maintenance due to a motor fault
I would expect a TM change. would it be worth at this late stage. This type of motor had serious commutation problem, as did all G310 motors. It affected all the stock that had them fitted, which was a lot. Hong Kong mass transit was a major customer.

Interesting. They are of similar vintage to the GEC traction motors fitted to HST power cars 43124-152, which have likewise always given problems (since new). A common design issue?

Does anyone know what’s going on with 001 and its preservation and 003? Cause 003 has supposedly been set up for a new livery and a test train role? Anyone give me info?

The preservation of 507001 is fantastic news. Just out of curiosity, how come the farewell tour has been deferred?
Probably because the last day of service for 507s has been pushed back. Not much of a farewell tour if they’re still running for months after it!

Fair point. Although good if it means they are in service a bit longer. I’ll miss them. The new trains don’t have quite the same appeal. Although one day we might be seeing a farewell tour of those and wanting one preserved .

Heading out to try and catch 507015 so any sightings would be welcome. I will post any other sightings here.

I think it ran empty to New Brighton yesterday with 016 so it may well still be stabled there.

507001 and 507003 are running together today on the Southport line in a preview of the planned railtour pairing. As well as 001 picked up speed when it led the pair, I still can't get over how much of a dog 003 has turned into since overhaul. It laboured desperately up Leeds Street Bank and has struggled to reach line speed throughout. The suspension is still terrible, too!

507028 and 507018 are at Birkenhead. 507029 is on a New Brighton service as is 507005

Thanks for the updates. Any idea on what 507s are working between Hunts Cross and Hillside today?

I believe 001 and 003 but I went down to Chester after New Brighton so haven't seen any others. Chester is solid 777"s today.

It is the Grand National meeting at Aintree next week with 8 services per hour. The last hurrah for some old units?

The luggage rack behind one of the cabs rattles like mad. I tried to put a screw that had fallen out back in but to no avail.

001s preserved not heard anything about 003
I heard some rumours that 003 was going to stick around for a bit when the rest are gone for some non passenger work around the network (thermal camera).

Neither 001 or 003 are particularly great units.
