Using Avanti on Sundays

I am travelling from London to Northampton and back today. Upon searching for a ticket online, the Super Off-Peak Day Return (SOL) is quoted for journeys fully on LNWR, but when a journey comes up including Avanti changing at Milton Keynes Central, the site decides I need two Super Off-Peak Day Singles (SOK).

Both ticket types have the same LK restriction code which permits any train on Sundays and bank holidays.

Is this a route planner bug? Is it more Avanti tomfoolery with mandatory reservations and no reservation quota for the SOL ticket? Or something else?

BR Fares shows no restrictions, though most other Super Off Peak fares on the line to Crewe and MKC have "Route LNW" or "Route Avanti" only. I'm wondering if this has been missed somewhere, but it still in the system. The only way to check would be to buy a ticket and see if it was printed as a restriction or ask at the ticket office.

I bought the ticket anyway specifying LNWR. As a bonus I was refused at the Avanti ticket check at Euston because “we’re Avanti we don’t take super off peak”; thankfully another member of staff overruled that particular nonsense.
