Picnic Tables lineside / at stations

Hi, does anyone know any lineside locations or stations with picnic tables (or any table and chair really) that have a good view of the running line (and are preferably outdoors, but doesn't have to be, please still suggest!)?

Reason I request is because I am looking for somewhere nice to have a laptop setup whilst trainspotting.

I am Glasgow based, so preferably somewhere less than 3 hours journey time each way from Glasgow Central / Queen St, but I of course absolutely welcome any places from across the UK.

Thanks

Where are you based. There are tables and benches between Wellingborough and Kettering , close to the line.

If you're in Leeds, visit the Kirkstall Bridge Inn. It has a beer garden from where you can see traffic on the line to/from Skipton, Ilkley and Bradford Forster Square (and Leeds, obvs).

If you cam drive, Abington motorway services has some picnic tables overlooking the West Coast Main Line.

The pub at Corrour station has picnic tables outside overlooking the line. Maybe less railway traffic than you are looking for though...

There are public picnic tables at Hest Bank level crossing on the West Coast Main Line, plus a cafe with picnic tables right next to the line.

A bit of a trek for you, but if you are happy to be indoors, the bar of the Clayton Hotel has (or certainly had pre-covid) tables overlooking the east end of Cardiff Central. A pleasant spot to spend some time holed up with a bar snack and Traksy for company to explain what's going on!

While not in your patch, but if you are ever in the southwest, then the Exeter Brewery Taproom has picnic tables close to lineside - Well worth a visit for the ale alone IMHO, but check opening times!

Nowhere near you of course, but I'd go for Stogumber on the West Somerset Railway. They'll even serve you a cream tea while you're there!

The York Tap in York station has tables and chairs outside, right beside the platform.

Not too many trains but the bar adjacent to Dingwall (the Mallard) certainly used to have tables and chairs - or benches - outside, on the platform.

Hellifield station has a nice cafe and there are tables and chairs outside literally on the platform.

The Graze Pub behind the Up Platform at Bath Spa is another although admittedly rather beyond your requested distance!
