Never had a problem using a wide gate. Used one yesterday because two Avanti staff were having a conversation over the narrow gate to the right of it blocking it from use while people were queueing for the rest of them on the other side.

I think it's rejecting it because of the hyphen not being an alphanumeric character. I think you want the number printed under the barcode, as shown in the example. That's what I put in last time I claimed.

The problem was they didn't - they set a precedent for previous dates but not specifically for this one. Anyway, with our original tickets now being useless, we have asked and got a full refund, and booked Superfare tickets for Saturday and Monday instead, which worked out cheaper in the end anyway.

We booked the train tickets with Avanti back on 12 December 2024 before the strike was announced. Avanti have since said that on strike days tickets can be used a day either side. This is still the case for 16 and 23 February. We booked accommodation on Thursday because we didn't want to...

I had a similar experience with a cancelled CrossCountry train, all trains cancelled for an entire day between Gloucester and Birmingham back in December. Claimed delay repay, they weren't fussed that I didn't actually travel on the first possible train the next day. Don't think they even asked...

Claim for a full refund plus some compensation (although I note you didn't pay for the taxi yourself), might have to go through Customer Services rather than a delay repay form.
