Nuneaton passenger loadings - AWC services

Use them a lot as Nuneaton now my main station as living on Nuneaton side of Hinckley. Always seems to be a lot of people getting on and off and with a huge amount of new housing developments in our area station only going to get busier. Fares are a bit troublesome and you really need to get to...

Merseyrail mandates that Trainline tickets must be printed out

I got e-ticket to Liverpool Stations on Saturday, only discovered their policy at Chester where it stated no third party e-tickets are valid. How can they enforce a policy if it isn't specified prior to purchase? shouldn't it be flagged as not saleable via e-ticket in same way that cross London...

Article referring to passengers staging "sit ins" on cancelled trains

A group of 30+ of us did it at Exeter at around 1am in early 90's when they curtailed our extremely late running Plymouth service. Weather was cold, windy & wet so nobody fancied a long wait on the platform. It worked as they found a DMU and driver from somewhere to take us to Plymouth. I don't...

Southern, Thameslink & Great Northern 'Not On Strike' Details

Managed to get local bus to Leicester, EMR from Leicester to Luton (via Manton - first time on that track) and then local busses back to Letchworth. With son's disabled bus pass only cost us £6 in bus fares and were back by 1pm.

Southern, Thameslink & Great Northern 'Not On Strike' Details

It still being on planners is a disgrace. Booked tickets yesterday for Letchworth to Hinckley (left late as possible to be sure trains were running) going today and returning Sunday, return journey still in planner - only by station announcements this morning did I know getting back may be an...

Possibility of avoiding passport control e-gates.

The age limit has been reduced, It was 10 when we flew in April via Stansted - not easy getting through troublesome gates with an autistic child. Wish we had gone to the desks instead.

Paddington to King's Cross - quickest way?

Paddington to Kings Cross is still every 5 minutes normally - train every 10 minutes on H&C and then every 10 minutes on the Circle line.

    Under 11s in London

Under 11's can just go through the barriers with adults (or just hop on busses/trams) on TFL services within London, providing they are with an adult. For National Rail, River Boats, Cable Car it's advantageous to have a 5-11 Zip Oyster card to get reduced rates and avoid the hassle of...

Which station platforms would you add additional facilities to?

Oyster Card/Contactless validators on platforms at end of validity stations (i.e. Welwyn GC) and/or London Terminals (St Pancras) so you can switch from ticket to Oyster/Contactless easily.

Trivia - Are there any cases where a bus journey is more expensive than a comparable train journey?

Letchworth to Hitchin - £3.60 return on train at peak time, it was £3.75 single last time I used the bus (over a year ago). Letchworth to Stevenage - £4.20 return off peak on train, £5.10 cheapest return ticket on bus - peak time bus is cheaper than train.

Places that don't have a proper bus station but could do with one

It wasn't good, quite dark and fumy. Used to get the X66 (Leicester-Birmingham) from there a couple of times a month when a teenager.

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

We were on 007 last Saturday (1008 Ipswich to Norwich), the other set was also out and about. Had to do another trip on the mainline later so my son could get a final slam of the MK3 doors before they are retired.

Woman asked to give up seat on train for child.

10 year old should be strong enough to stand unless they have a disability. When travelling with my 6 year old we usually get offered a seat in London apart from when train is crush loaded, not been offered one outside of London and when he was younger have had to hold him and balance for...

Coventry to Leicester direct - but how?

Sure the service when I used to use it in early 90s reversed at nuneaton. Coventry service was the stopping service and the Birmingham service was semi fast missing Narborough and south Wigston. Quite often used x69 bus though as was comfier, left bus station so no walk to station and Explorer...

Where do landlocked Northern Home Counties people go to the coast?

As someone who doesn't drive living in Letchworth I often go Norfolk particularly around Hunstanton and South coast Brighton (day trips) or Bognor (Butlins) all fairly easy. Quite a few people I know go Southwold and Cromer and there are weekly coach trips to Great Yarmouth. Went back to my...

I don't think they post tickets you print them out or get them delivered to your mobile - they also have an app which was quite handy when over there a couple of weeks ago.

My idea for restrictions to cycles on trains

Why don't we just have 1 carriage on trains that is the same as the overground trains? At peak times more room for standing, off peak more conveNient for cyclists and people with buggies. I'm a cyclist who uses the train with my bike mainly in one direction for leisure purposes - returning...
