East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

Covid casualty. It hasn't been "reinstated" yet. Although I *think* it might be back in December but I'll need to go double check. 1751899268 Yeah it's back in December. Almost a 50/50 split across the day between 170 and 158! Also Sundays now an 0830 NOT-MAN and 1141 MAN-NRW providing an...

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

There'll be more than enough padding in the diagram to accommodate that plus you've got multiple bites of the cherry with a right time restart at Nottingham, Derby and potentially even Lincoln depending upon unit and crew availability.

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

You'd be surprised how many people from Lincoln travel through to Derby and onwards. In particular you'd now be better changing at Derby for Birmingham than Nottingham.

Stopgap options to cover for delays to introduction of Class 810 for EMR?

I many respects the "fast" ought to revert to what it used to do and call at Loughborough to ease some of the pressure every second hour which it did until the 125mph TT.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Station verification runs, they're being cleared for various routes such as Crewe, Skegness, and some non-EMR lines such as Leeds via the ECML.

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

I suppose with an hourly service you also risk increasing patronage by more than double as well! Which I'd argue is a good thing, but there isn't the fleet to accommodate that. In reality all former 2 car services really needed to be replaced by a 3 car 170 minimum. A 156 to a 170 is a reduction...

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

Similar to now. Cleethorpes is 1 per two hours, roughly.

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

Matlock to Lincoln, and Derby to Crewe. I can't remember how many go through to Cleethorpes but assume it's the 3 a day that run at present.

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

Times haven't been published yet. 1751026283 Relatively similar, the "Ambergate Flyer" also returns except this time it's an approx 0657 Ambergate to Cleethorpes!

    Fare evasion on railtours.

There are the occasional people who seem to take delight in reliving the 1980s and getting away without paying for a diesel hauled tour. I recall having some intel passed to me from a few years ago when the Shakespeare Express was running with a pair of Class 20s as no steam was available. I...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Has anybody posted this in here yet? You can rename them Hitachi Rail Italy, but it doesn't hide the fact that they're really AnsaldoBreda underneath their Scooby Doo mask.

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

It's more how the paths across the ECML flat crossing dictate the paths either side. It's worth noting that the Crewe and Matlock services switch departure times at Nottingham as well, with Crewe now leaving approx xx54 and Matlock approx xx17. The Matlock is the fast service East of Nottingham...

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

Internal information. Crewe picks up Attenborough hourly and the Matlock picks up Spondon hourly.

Stopgap options to cover for delays to introduction of Class 810 for EMR?

Grantham P4 isn't permissive so you can't attach and detach there. The connections are mostly in and out of the Norwich service, so that now gets strengthened. You can't run a shuttle to Grantham using displaced 222s if there's an MML block because they require 7mins to turn around in the...

    Hot Weather TOC Uniforms

A long and hard battle fought by the unions for the comfort of the staff. It took about 5 years!

Which railway lines are the least used in this country?

Cleethorpes to Barton has to be up there especially with the frequency of trains it gets.

Northern service "stops in wrong position" at Mcr Oxford Road

There are quite a few platforms across the EMR network where a 170 fits all passenger doors in (only just) but the cab door is off the platform. As there is a risk to the member of staff should they forget that it's 3 cars but not the cab door, the safest method is to make it 2 cars to avoid injury.

    MML Sprinters

Yep, definitely a 158, I have seen photos of one on this service around Wellingborough. Interestingly in more recent years before the rebuilding of Market Harborough 158s were subject to a 5mph gauge clearance limit through the platforms. Hence why it was only the 156s and on one occasion a...

    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

That depends upon your point of view really! It'll be out early to mid June is the most accurate answer at the moment.
