    UK General Election 2024

There is a difference in the case of a rebellion amongst MPs of the governing party. The larger the majority, the more rebels are needed to defeat the government. Agreed.

    Route Learning in Simulators

With a moving scene, monocular/2D vision has depth perception clues other than apparent size. Whether these are sufficient depends on circumstances. The further away a scene is, the less important binocular/3D vision becomes. Monocular vision does not, by itself, bar somebody from driving on...

    Route Learning in Simulators

Looks like something AI could help with, using cab ride videos as a source. That would still require human input. For example, you would not want a landmark rock misidentified as a cow, which was then modelled as moving around.

    The 2024 US presidential election.

I don't see it quite that way. Ex-presidents may now be considered immune from prosecution for official acts. That does not, by itself, make all such acts legal.

    24 TPH in 1961

From memory, occasionally 12. Though a vaguer memory says that was on Saturdays when Spurs were playing at home.

Does this mean there will be the possibility of competition for the yellow jersey on the final stage, rather than the usual coronation ?

Hot weather performance notices in London - at +23C !!!

Official temperatures are measured inside a Stevenson screen, usually sited in a grassy area. Forecasts are for these temperatures. Locally, anywhere that amounts to a 'sun trap', such as large areas of concrete and tarmac, can be considerably higher.

What strange or old-fashioned things have you eaten?

Haggis Heart (Father's risotto recipe) Snails (France) Frogs legs (France) Horse (France) Brains (Spain, 1970s) Unidentified small molluscs served as an appetiser in a Belgian fish/seafood restaurant. Initially visually misidentified as pistachios. Late addition, kangaroo (Hertfordshire)

    Why should I bother voting?

At least one of his examples of a spoiled ballot (tick rather than cross) would be allowed.

    UK General Election 2024

If this year is a guide, some of the parties would struggle to produce a manifesto before the vote. We do spend over 2% our days with a general election campaign underway.

    UK General Election 2024

Personally, I would redact the second part of the postcode. A full postcode only covers a few addresses.

    Phase balancing and OHLE

A 17 km path difference would make a 1 degree phase difference. The issue cannot be completely disregarded in GB.

    UK General Election 2024

Did you see the Reform broadcast last week ? A single static six word caption for the whole time, no audio.

    Terrace housing

It all depends on which way the terrace is built. Some have 'mirror image' pairs of houses, which does give a single wall between the most used rooms of adjacent houses. My terrace has all the houses the same way around, with the most used rooms all to one side of a through hallway. The less...

    Rail station bicycle theft statistics

Sounds like a public bike maintenance stand. The handles go under the crossbar of a bike to hold it up off the ground for easier access. The wires used to have tools on the ends.
