Hi - does anyone know if the VTEC diversions via Hexham and Carlisle will run again this year? And what dates? I fancy another luxury ride from Newcastle to Carlisle on an HST or class 67 haulage!

I'm staying in Arbroath this summer so I was looking forward to the extra train services although I believe they're not starting until December now. However are the Glasgow / Edinburgh to Aberdeen services being replaced with the mini HST's yet or are they still units?

Travelled from Dalston (near Carlisle) to Whitehaven yesterday but we were stuck for about 20 minutes just outside the main Bransty station waiting for a Northbound service (loco hauled - no surprises there!) to arrive, stop and leave the station before we could enter the single remaining line...

Those HST rides along the Tyne Valley on autumn Saturdays are great but I'd love to take my dad along 1st class hopefully when there's something with steam on passing through Carlisle. Its been discussed before that there isn't a fare so the only way of doing it would be £15 per journey Weekend...

Does anyone know if Bardon Mill signalbox will be switched in with the Tyne Valley line being busier during the current weekend East Coast diversions?
