TPE guard making claim regarding ticket validity

The “50 mile’ rule for cheap day returns was introduced during a fares revision in 1985.

Sunday Work - A New Honesty?

Double time was payable in BR days when working a Rest Day on a Saturday night into Sunday - any time after midnight into Sunday was double time. I recall it was possible to get double time on Good Friday, but remember the criteria. From recollection Sundays were voluntary, but some...

Trivia: obscure rail tickets you've used

Not used ‘em my self but in the days of the ‘old’ BR Free Pass (pre 83), I’m aware of (amongst other permutations) Bat & Ball - Bowling Carbis Bay -Wemyss Bay

    Return trip... from the middle

And a single ticket from Milton Keynes to Leighton Bizzard for the final leg of the journey.

Pathfinder Railtours issues with West Coast Railway supplied rolling stock.

Speculation on my part, but I would suggest that conversations have taken place and the two parties cannot reach agreement on the suitability (or ortherwise) of the stock. Not a good situation to be in.

Pathfinder Railtours issues with West Coast Railway supplied rolling stock.

And to correct the message above. Commercial considerations SHOULD NOT override the DOTE.

Pathfinder Railtours issues with West Coast Railway supplied rolling stock.

Every TOC has a DOTE (Defective On Train Equipment) document that stipulates the action taken in the event of (believe it or not) defective on train equipment, such as lighting, train heating & toilets. From memory (as I haven’t read it for a couple of years) the Rule Book states all trains MUST...

Northern and prosecutions for railcard use before 10am

During my time working in a Booking Office (BR era, late ‘80s’) it was £3.00 single/£6.00 return before 1800. I don’t know when the minimum price or time cut-off changed.

Forgetting RST leisure card and purchasing at full fare

That’s if you forget your railcard after purchasing a ticket. To my knowledge it doesn’t apply if you buy a full fare ticket & subsequently produce a railcard. Failure to present RSTL/Priv card with a reduced rate ticket is a travel irregularity issue (as per the conditions of issue).

CrossCountry Train Managers striking in October

Indeed it will. My understanding is that there is a ‘3 strikes and out rule’ applied to signallers for operational irregularities. What criteria is applied to contingency staff covering the posts during industrial action ?

    RMT Talks

Why do you consider that you need parity with jobs/grades that aren't employed by your company ? The TOC’s and Network Rail are separate entities (until GBR kicks in, then wait for disputes over harmonisation of conditions/wages) i’m sure that as a Network Rail employee you were happy to take...

Freight derailment in Tameside (Greater Manchester), with one minor injury (06/09)

Or, more than likely, access has been restricted as a result of someone posting this information. Those using CCIL (’The Log’) should be aware that ANY viewing of an incident is recorded (time/user id) in the audit trail

ECML blocked Stevenage - Hitchin (09/08 and 10/08))

Which didn't matter as that train (1C26) was full & standing from Derby

Avanti WC down the pan again

A repeat of post #5 in this thread (by yourself) and explained in post #13. Both trains will be treated as (part) cancelled and therefore fail any punctuality target.

Does less trains running now mean less staff employed?

It all works on paper when everything is on time The ‘efficient’ diagramming falls apart whenever the job falls apart. The task of recovering the service then becomes a little bit of an issue.

    Thameslink Core pantograph strike

And, from personal observation, has been stood there since approx 1000 this morning

Storm Babet disruption - Saturday 21/10

Not 100% correct. Crewe crews were used on the services until the early days of the East Midlands Trains franchise. Don’t know when the other North West depots (Liverpool/Piccadilly) lost the work.

Marston Vale line suspension over - FULL services start running 19/02/24

All competency on 150 will have lapsed. Training for all staff will be the same irrespective of whether or not they have worked 150s before. With there being no service for over 6 months between Bletchley & Bedford, route LEARNING will take place rather than route review.

Skegness line reservations (Was - Compulsory reservations on Skegness trains)

Ah, I’d forgotten about that (and the occasional 222 to Lincoln and a one off to Lime St on a non Grand National day)

Skegness line reservations (Was - Compulsory reservations on Skegness trains)

Any specific examples of this ? During my time at EMT (approx 10 years), I can’t recall this happening. Maybe things have changed under EMR, but I am sure if that was the case it would have been highlighted here.
