    Reading Buses and Thames Valley

Hmm. Doubt if it will be via the villages. Will be unwanted competition for Carousel, not sure it’s helpful. And this route used to be the 329, not the 328 (and long ago the 28) - this was the 850 via Wargrave.

    Arriva (Beds, Bucks, Herts)

I would have thought that competing with anyone was the last thing Arriva need to be doing now! Going abroad for three weeks now but I looked in at Wycombe depot yesterday. Only two Citaros in the naughty area, 3920 has been there for a while- wouldn’t be surprised if this was withdrawn- and...

Trivia: Routes shared between depots/operators causing issues.

The Stagecoach 685 is another route shared between Carlisle and Newcastle. Previously on BusTimes some journeys were just missing, now they are all there but its a terrible mess as NE eastbound journeys are mixed with NW westbound journeys...!

    Arriva (Beds, Bucks, Herts)

That's excellent news. It was a surprise seeing one in St Albans yesterday. I grew up to the 321 with 17 boards of AN-class Atlanteans, preceded by RTs. At that time a round trip from Luton to Uxbridge was 4 hours 30 minutes - now it takes 4 hours round trip just to Watford! I hope perhaps some...

    Arriva (Beds, Bucks, Herts)

Three double deckers on the 321 today - first time in years?

    BusTimes.Org

I note that none of the South West First open top routes -Atlantic Coaster, Lands End Coaster or Exmoor Coaster, show any timetables on BusTimes, except for on Sundays. And I don’t think these are the correct timetables either. But they are tracking, so you can see where the buses are. I think...

Arriva to close Aylesbury and High Wycombe depots

Certainly a more attractive through route, but it would be 2:30 end-to-end and therefore very difficult to manage, especially with traffic congestion. The battle with Redline is lost!

Arriva to close Aylesbury and High Wycombe depots

I utterly agree with your conclusion but quibble with some of the detail. A round trip is 2:30, with the single journey actually only 1:05. In the evening a round trip is 2:00. I suspect a Hemel driver could probably do three round trips, but probably not HH>AY>HW and back twice. An Aylesbury...

    Stagecoach South & South East

    OK, I stand corrected!

    Stagecoach South & South East

Going off topic here but Hemel Hempstead remains as in LCBS days. Also not sure when Dartford moved to its current depot. But most are long gone except Garston which was fairly recent.

Arriva to close Aylesbury and High Wycombe depots

They've lost the battle on the X9/X90 to Redline so why keep battling on. Redline are more frequent, more reliable and quicker, fares are now irrelevant. They just need to reroute some journeys via Naphill to cover the X9 and perhaps add a handful of extra peak journeys. Equally they are...

Arriva to close Aylesbury and High Wycombe depots

Only the X9/X90 which are already dealt with. Redline will divert some journeys via the X9 route. Query whether this will now meet the demand, I think the good service and competition has enhanced demand for the routes.

Stagecoach East (Bedford, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough)

I can't speak for the 8 at all, for the 4 it would seem sensible to perhaps alternate which parts of Cambourne are served as it looks tortuous making some journeys. I don't understand the 905 at all, is it a serious proposal to terminate at St Neots from the Bedford end outside the peaks? I...

Arriva to close Aylesbury and High Wycombe depots

Agreed. I think Red Rose might need to add one or two buses to the Wycombe service to take in diverting some journeys via Naphill and the school needs, but that's all. Maybe even add some deckers if demand warrants once Arriva have gone.

Trips by Bus and Coach: Your reports

Great reports here from @M803UYA, @ChrisC and @TheGrandWazoo, thank you all. I have immediately added the Peak Sightseer to be "to do" list, especially beyond Castleton as this section looks fabulous. I might even persuade the other half onto this one day. I hope it lasts a few year though as a...

Trips by Bus and Coach: Your reports

Thanks for this interesting report. A good location to base yourselves with plenty of options. I look forward to hearing about the other days, especially the scenic Tuesday, there are routes here on my to-do list.

    Trawscymru Service News

The absence of times at Porthmadog and Criccieth is ludicrous as there are real railway stations there!

Arriva to close Aylesbury and High Wycombe depots

Looking at Arriva in High Wycombe today it appears that almost everything which moves is out on the road, even though it is a Sunday service. Like yesterday there are 6 deckers out, normally lucky to get one or two on a Sunday. There are several Citaros parked up in the naughty area at the...

Arriva to close Aylesbury and High Wycombe depots

It’s really interesting to hear the contribution from @arrivamatt and thank you for posting and for your honesty throughout the last couple of years. I know nothing of the financials nor the industrial relations and working practices but I do see buses with decent loads so I would have thought...
