Does anyone know if there is any reason why the proposed service on the Northumberland line between Ashington and Newcastle terminates at Newcastle Central instead of carrying on to the metro centre, or Hexham or even Carlisle? Would there be more of an incentive for passengers to travel...
Does anyone know why the former rail bridge over the river Tyne at Scotswood in the west end of Newcastle remains locked up and inaccessible? It would make a great addition to the cycle routes in the area if nothing else. Who owns it, and have Sustrans a role here?
Can anyone tell me why Liverpool Exchange Station, with its magnificent frontage, was not used as the portal for the replacement Moorfields underground station nearby?
Moorfields is an ugly carbuncle of a building and certainly does not deserve to represent such a busy and important interchange...
When the Tyne and Wear metro system was created in the early 1980s it was clearly a vast improvement on the old North Tyneside loop... but a vital shortcut using the ECML and what is now a freight-only line, was lost.
