Thanks all - To clarify, the 50mm 1.8 is a really good lens but generally not for buses, the lack of zoom is it's main downfall. I could crop, but I don't like to do that. Since posting this thread I've come to two conclusions, the day time bus shots (see signature for a sample) are OK, it's...

I am not quite sure. I think what I am saying is some of my images aren't as sharp as they could be - I appreciate this is probably a me issue, but was just looking for upgrades which may help.

I'm just used to 18-200mm I suppose. With a none fixed, it's easier to set the shot, especially with moving buses (yes, I agree I may need to move).

You might have a good point with the shorter zoom, thanks. I am wanting something for better lighting in winter, so a lower f number would be better. I'll start looking :) I have a 50mm f1.8 but it's a bit restrictive for buses.

I appreciate this is a vague question, but can anyone recommend (or advise what you use) as a good auto focus lens for bus photography? I've been using the kit lens (18-200mm currently) but think I could do better. TIA

    Hulley's of Baslow

Sorry for the very late reply. There was a Skegness and a Scarborough service. I was first passenger on the Saturday and the only passenger on the Sunday. It did start to pick up decent loads, but was cancelled before the end of the summer season.

    Stagecoach East Scotland

Apologies for tagging this here, it's sort of related, sort of should be a new thread. I'm doing research into Strathtay. Does anyone know where I might obtain local news sheets (Not PSV Circle) which included Strathtay from around 1993 to 2006? Might anyone also point me in the right direction...

How can Cross country overcrowding be alleviated?

But its a private operator that makes profits, so the country shouldn't be paying.

How can Cross country overcrowding be alleviated?

In my opinion, the worst of the operators that I use. They tend to be late (though I understand why), are generally too small, generally with a poor frequency and are expensive. From their point of view, why invest when the terms of the franchise are for x years. Pointless.

Scenario - what's the official answer

Hello. I thought I'd post here as I asked two company staff (one in a complaint about another issue, and one on the phone and I didn't get a satisfactory answer). Situation. Recently I had a 5am flight from Manchester Airport. I planned it perfectly. aiming to catch the last train from...

I'd love that personally but it would miss the main point of the X57. Most people use the service on the South Yorkshire side or from Glossip to Manchester and not many doing the full route.

It's been mentioned on the Hulleys Enthusiast pages of Facebook too.

I think in the main bus times is right, it's just the late night weekend extras (and X98) were still showing last time I looked. The PTE in general just seem to me making a number of small errors - this may not be their fault as you stated.

    Hulley's of Baslow

I think the PTE are making more mistakes these days! It doesn't help that Hulleys own web site is out dated though, and bustimes is also wrong. I put the latter down to the feed from official sources though and as they were last minute emergency changes, I suspect this might take a while to update.

Advice needed on what to do with collection of old railway magazines.

Same with models from the 90s. It is bizarre when you see these people trying to flog that model for the (when new) RRP yet all its done for 20 plus years is to take up room. As stated in an Alan Bennett play, you have to keep your stock moving.

I think some of the posts here are way over the top for a company that is trying to do the right thing. Yes, of course mistakes were made, but their statement was quick, honest and factual. It can't be easy going through a national industry crisis and isn't as easy as just getting new drivers.

The x1 timetable is available on bus times but I can't post data here as I'm not in a position to transcribe the information. Edit. Just seen post above. Soz

Thanks - wonder what happened with SYPTE. Updating timetable in advance indeed (Still no sign of X98/9 on PTE site)

    Hulley's of Baslow

Do you have a link for the timetable for either the new X1 or the extended X57? The only thing I can find online about the X1 is Derbyshire CC timetable changes and information on that is limited. Hulley's official site tends to put the information up two weeks after the service started (or it...
