Outrage as London tube driver whips up passengers to chant pro-Palestinian slogans

Personal views should remain personal when at work. I fear this driver may be having an awkward meeting with management on Monday.

Glasgow Victoria Infirmary A&E on access point signs

It might be different in England but in Scotland, NHS 24 (111) directly employ a number of clinicians, including nurses, mental health nurses, and pharmacists.

    Are paramedics professionals?

I am an ambulance worker (although not a paramedic) so I have a strong view on this. I’m interested in the way you have worded ‘if they can really be classed as true professionals’. My question to you would be why would they not? Is it to do with striking? Barristers went on strike. Junior...

    First Greater Glasgow

Certainly was the case when I was there 15 years ago. You weren’t paid for the first 10 mins of your shift (find your bus, daily checks) or the last 5 mins (parking up, returning paperwork to office).

When I did night duties at First Glasgow, you got a cut of the fare takings. I can’t remember what it was but it wasn’t a lot - 5p for every £, I think. The more attractive thing with night duties was that you got every second weekend off, unlike the “normal” rota which worked 6 out of 8...

    Hutchison's of Overtown

I don’t know a lot about Hutchison’s operations but there might be some helpful info here - https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/hutchison-routes-v-first-routes-now.216795/

Trivia: What bus routes still make use of a ferry?

I think McGill’s 907 service still runs via the Dunoon ferry.

I used to drive out of Larkfield depot in the mid-2000’s and I thought everyone was the same rate back then. If the No 2 guys were on a different rate back then, that completely passed me by.

I’m surprised to see on the First Group Careers Website that No 1 drivers now seem to be on a higher pay rate that No 2 drivers. Is this a new thing and how on earth did the Union agree to that?

Interview help - Customer Service Assistant for Network Rail

“Competency based” questions usually start with “Tell me about a time when…” so I would have a think about the sort of tasks you will be expected to do in the role and some examples of when you have done these sorts of things previously. For example, tell me about a time when you’ve given...

Through the depot in service? (Yorkshire Traction, others?)

Does First Glasgow’s 240 go into Overtown depot to terminate or does it stop outside?

Isn’t there also a low bridge not far from the depot that one of the new 75 branded buses lost its top on? Not great on my Dumbarton routes but think that would affect the 1A? Edit: the more I think about it, that bus might have been off route at the time.

    First Greater Glasgow

Can’t remember the exact route but sure it started in the city centre (Douglas Street, maybe) then up through Shawlands, Thornliebank, Southpark, Priesthill, Silverburn. Not sure which way it took after that but I think it went via Penilee into Braehead. Always thought it was a nice route to drive.

    First Greater Glasgow

Parks and West Coast Motors had coaches ‘on loan’ to First Glasgow around here a while back to help with carrying school kids. Don’t know if that’s what’s happening with this example though, given the schools are meant to be shut.
