What became of the Grand central Euston - Blackpool North proposed service

There's 6 trains an hour from Blackpool North or South to a wide variety of destinations. London is unlikely to be the most popular for tourists coming to Blackpool. For those coming from Preston there's local trains just a few minutes before the Avanti ones. Scarborough has 2.

Cowboy Operators a thing of the past?

To be fair that happens with a few operators. Transdev Keighley often have both on their 62 service to Ilkley and K9 estate service. Until a couple of weeks ago the 62 arriving in Keighley about 0710 was regularly a minibus whilst the one before it was a double decker.

Cowboy Operators a thing of the past?

Hulleys did register significant new commercial routes a couple of years before their demise that led to a council withdrawing tenders from other operators than didn't run them, only realising (or announcing) they couldn't at the last minute) and causing disruption to passengers who never saw...

    Cambridgeshire Bus Franchising?

One of the problems with such links is that the link to town works well, with an infrequent link to a frequent link. But going in the other direction it's not always clear how much time you need to leave and people will either catch an earlier service from town with a longer than planned wait...

    LNER advance tickets

Well, Northern are certainly putting people off buying that at ticket offices by telling them they can't.

    Cambridgeshire Bus Franchising?

Now you're fine in Manchester. Unless you cross the border. Depending on whether the journey is Bee Network or not. A couple of areas found their cross-border bus replaced by a Bee Network bus that no longer crosses the border.

    Cambridgeshire Bus Franchising?

I don't think people do wonder why deregulation happened. It was policy for a long time for the Tories to deregulate and privatise many industries. The bus companies that were privatised varied widely in their efficiency.

    LNER advance tickets

That's not what they say on their website, though when buying last minute tickets I usually do it on my phone whilst on the bus towards the station, so I can't confirm. https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/save-on-the-day

    LNER advance tickets

This varies by operator. Most now sell advances on the day, though some, like Northern won't sell them from ticket offices.

Is participation in PlusBus entirely optional?

Also, if a bus company is a participant in area multi-operator ticket schemes, many specify that you must also participate in Plusbus.

    PlusBus Tickets

The plusbus website seems to have had a downgrade. I'm sure you used to be able to click on the name of most operators to go to their website. This doesn't seem to work any more.

    Ember: Electric coach service

From 25th July, yes, they have. They can't have passengers travelling less than 15 miles until their registration comes into effect.

    Flixbus Discussion

Almost all National Express services go via Heathrow, so are exceptionally slow to London.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Disappointing to go from 3 to 1 vegan option (2 to 1 on the breakfast but at least they're they've kept the best one). The curry sounds good, but I rarely get the right train for that.

You'll find these all start or finish at Cambridge. Oddly the Flixbus website won't let you search for Stratford as a location.

    Arriva (Beds, Bucks, Herts)

Is that reply to me? If they could actually run it, it might be. When it was 8 bph a missed or late bus wasn't a big problem and the service was generally busy. And, as I mentioned, the bigger problem is the 75% reduction in evening and Sunday services and complete withdrawal of the Sunday...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

My wife is often offered two cans of the ginger beer. But not always. She rarely wants much, so when she gets two that's usually enough for the trip.

    London Buses Discussion

I understand the pros and cons. There's many reasons people might want to know about more than just the first bus on a route - that's why I praised the way Citymapper's app shows it (they then have a complete list of buses below the summary).
