No trains Edinburgh to Queen Street from 29th Jan to 1st Feb ?

I’m not sure how many drivers and conductors sign that route these days… I know Perth crews used to when they worked a Glasgow Queen Street to Markinch evening peak service (pre Covid) and Glasgow to Aberdeens used to be diverted along there too if there was engineering work between Stirling...

No trains Edinburgh to Queen Street from 29th Jan to 1st Feb ?

ScotRail are warning of major disruption on service between Glasgow and Edinburgh for five days due to urgent engineering work in the Ratho area. Affecting all services between the two cities on the lines via Falkirk High and Bathgate…...

Standard 9F no. 92219 off to the Highlands

Ahh, I see, thank you. That’s where I thought it was heading. Would be interesting to see a working 9F on the Strathspey… But I’ll not get my hopes up just yet.

    Mallaig/Calmac interchange

Probably not I’m afraid. Calmac’s online timetable for the small isles route doesn’t list a train connection for the 0955 sailings from Mallaig. And they also state that check in for foot passengers closes 20 minutes before departure.

    Scotrail HST alternatives?

There was a fatality between Stirling and Glasgow last night. Which resulted in quite a few HSTs and other units finishing the day in the wrong place, due to the disruption and a variety of cancellations. But still, most days there’s quite a few substitutions due to how unreliable the HSTs can...

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

There must 12(ish) E coaches that have been sitting at Slateford for a similar time, with no sign of them being added into any 4 coach sets. So who knows what condition they’ll be in…

LNER - Customer Experience Host Video Interview

Other half has just applied for a Customer Experience Role with LNER. He has now been asked to do a video interview. Does anybody here now what sort of questions likely be asked? He currently works in retail and, I think anyway, has plenty of relevant experience. But we’re wanting to have an...

Facilities at Glasgow Queen Street and other stations in Scotland

Will the prices be comparable with those in the M&S in Waverley? I was in Queen St last night, but on a tight turnaround on the same set, so didn’t have time to venture past the ticket gates.

I do wonder if they’ll bring it back into ScotRail… But that’s just my own wondering, haven’t heard anything official yet.

ASLEF (Scotland) wanting to do away with DOO.

Do DOO drivers in the central belt get paid more than a driver who drives trains with a conductor on board?

Truly a weeks worth of disruption in one day?!

    Scotrail disruption 12/12/22

In addition to the broken down train: overhead wire problems at Haymarket this morning apparently due to icicles, a points failure at Arbroath, and signalling problems between Aberdeen and Inverurie for most of the day. It’s all been a bit messy

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

One quarter of the vestibule doors do not open when you walk up to them. The next quarter open dreadfully slowly and can take an age to open fully. The third quarter violently open and close of their own accord even when not in use and the continuous thumping can be heard at the opposite end...

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

Not helped that the headrests have a tendency to fall off whenever somebody nearby sneezes! The fabric on the rest of the seats are already starting to look a bit worn and shabby, unless it’s just the lighting in this particular photo.

    Caledonian Sleeper

Two sleeper sets in Aberdeen about 19:10 on Friday evening (28th October). Assume one set made its way back down south as it sounded like one of the 73s was getting fired up.
