I know the throttle pedals on these have two position sensors that read opposite values and if there was an error it would bring on a red engine light and cut power immediately. Only way it would jam is if a foreign object was caught under it such as a ticket roll
Of course brakes on a bus work...
Not sure on trains but I know on buses you have to have the air built up and handbrake released to wind off the spring brakes normally otherwise it's very hard to do, much harder on a train I'd imagine.
I've lost track of why the 769s were binned but would they not be a good candidate to be converted to this battery tech? Especially for the Cornish branches.
When we first got them at my garage they failed a few times meaning having to go out with a stick on mirror to drive it back but they've settled down and hardly go wrong (apart from when they're smashed off). They're so much nicer from a driving point of view as well
Complete non starter, the proposed route could easily be done by a couple of changes to the existing bus network for a fraction of the price. Maybe a version of the East London Transit bus system at a push would happen.
Also, is Beam Park actually happening? Seems rather pointless considering...
I definitely recall coasting on a 321 during works but I can't find anything about it now so doubting it. I'm sure it was after leaving Romford towards Stratford...
Edit;
Just searched my Facebook, 25th August 2013 from Romford to Ilford.
Apparently it was only 321s allowed and was tested...
The BYD aftermarket support is shocking hence the switch to other manufacturers, ADLs new EVs also have a long lead time so expect more Wrightbus orders
