Provision of saloon heating in electric buses

Presumably without a diesel generator (fitted for heating) and fuel tank on board there's a weight (and build cost) saving and therefore a slightly higher battery range. Not going to be at all pleasant in winter though.

    Carousel Buses (Go-Ahead group)

Thanks. Best Impressions flyer, in the same The London Line/Flightline style. (This is just as odd as when I once boarded a Stagecoach bus that was ex-First and still had it's Barbie spec interior.)

    Thames link and Elizabeth Line

Excellent news, more so if the OP can touch in at Hatfield before 0630. That's a potential saving of £10.50 per day compared to the anytime return ticket.

    Thames link and Elizabeth Line

Another alternative would be season ticket from Hatfield to Potters Bar, then use contactless card from Potters Bar to Slough (you must touch in at Potters Bar before 0630 for off peak fare). Do not tap on the validators at Farringdon as you are not ending your journey there. There's no evening...

Are there still any roadside ticket machines for buses in London?

My point is that you can buy and install map vending machines. Whilst paper maps certainly aren't as popular as they once were, in my view it's still better than watching a street mugger run off with your £500+ smartphone.

Are there still any roadside ticket machines for buses in London?

Tourist map vending machines exist, the technology is readily available. https://www.cityscapemaps.com/products-services/dispensers

What could be done to improve the Elizabeth Line’s performance?

It's worth noting that two stations (Iver, Taplow) get an half-hourly off peak service. Cancel 1 train, suddenly the next train is in an hour, cancel 2 and you might as well have not bothered. If you touch in and wait on the platform for the next service, you may well exceed the fare time limit...

    What car should I buy?

I think the poster above may have been thinking of the older estate version of the mark 1 Tipo ('88-'93), the Tempra Weekend.

What was your favourite bus type as a kid?

An earlier bodied Leyland Tiger Cub?

    BT Copper to Fibre

They won't install a fibre cable between the pole and your home as long as you don't order a fibre to the premises product that requires it.

You know you’re getting older when……

They're just as likely to be found in a rusted, crushed state where street cleaning is very infrequent. This year I've mostly seen dumped 14kg large NOS canisters. These are the professional food grade 'cream chargers'.

Solution reached to save Day Travelcards

Pessimistic view: Compromise = likely hike in price. As the contactless fares are capped to the Travelcard rates, everyone gets the fare increase.

    Southall to Reading

N.B. There's no contactless peak fare in the PM peak when departing from Reading.

Need to travel on a strike day Reading to White Hart Lane (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium)

You have other routes such as taking the 702 bus (£2 single) 'the London Line' from Slough to Reading. There's 3 late evening departures that take just over an hour. These depart Slough (westbound Queensmere centre/A4 Wellington St, opposite the Tesco petrol station) at 2027, 2200 and 2300. You...

Rail connections should cater for early airline flights

Train to Gatwick Airport, arriving around midnight. Go to the South Terminal coach station (stand 2). Take the 'The Airline' OXF (destination Oxford) coach to Heathrow. There's a 0055 departure, arriving at Heathrow at 0200. There's also a later 0255 departure, arriving at Heathrow at 0400. Job...

    Weird TFL route W1

Touch in and out at the open station gatelines/platform validators as per usual. Drivers don't ask you to tap in as you board when it's a TfL replacement bus. Whilst TfL usually hire in buses from TfL bus depots for the W1, those that aren't won't have TfL's ticket machinery.

    Vintage London Transport Single Decker

The front engined Country buses that appear at the Amersham running day are usually MXX 302 - GS type and HLX 462 - AEC Regal III/Mann Egerton.

    Reading Buses and Thames Valley

Lion routes will get fleet replacement with similar specification vehicles to this order. Likely to happen later this year from what I've read. The displaced 400MMCs become generics, 795 moves to Bracknell depot for the 703.

ASLEF circular to members on 'legacy traction' and its safety.

Nope. It's just a big fibreglass pod attached to the bulkhead behind and the underframe. HST without the cab pod: https://www.railway-centre.com/uploads/7/2/2/3/7223531/3881115_orig.jpg [Photo: Colin J. Mardsen] Later vehicles with fibreglass cabs do have a metal frame underneath, such as...

    Reading Buses and Thames Valley

As someone who actually uses the route regularly, I'm happy with the choice of Lazzerini seat and everything else I can see from the photos (including the Maidstone 'GL' registrations).
