    Mail Rail tunnel tour

Thanks for sharing, would like to do one of these walks having been to the museum and had the ride, some great industrial history in the system.

Which new rolling stock are you most looking forward to travel on (2022 and beyond)?

No, I just have no interest in any of the other listed stock so does not concern me. The required design and technical elements of the HS stock does interest me. As for like of HST's, well maybe I am just a bit old fashioned.....

Which new rolling stock are you most looking forward to travel on (2022 and beyond)?

The HS2 stock for me, purely on the speed element, but to be fair I don't mind the 395's. Had it not been for the option of thr HS2 stock in the poll, I would have gone for the vintage option. Give me an HST any day!

Trivia : Roads/or station approaches running parallel with the railway

M5 in Devon from north of Exeter, until past Tiverton Parkway.

    Daft school rules

Had the enforced eating of school dinners, the absolutely dreadful, overcooked and tastless white cabbage was enough to turn my stomach. We were also banned from leaving the table until everyone was allowed to leave the table to go the playground (which was fully supervised). Also had the...

    Your experience of Jury Service

As an aside, do those of you who were called for service at the Old Bailey live within reasonable commuting distance of Central London? Or can anyone living anywhere be called for Old Bailey service?

[FR] Tour de Bretagne (with pics)

Cracking pictures and great report, thank you Charly, as someone who would normally make 2 or 3 trips to that area of France a year this has bought a smile to my face and happy memories. Thank you.

[FR] Tour de Bretagne (with pics)

Thank you Charly, it is a truly stunning area, and I do have a sweet spot for Morbihan.

    Airports with Smoking Areas Airside

Most Scandinavian airports have numerous smoking booths that are free to use. I'm not a smoker but have travelled through there a lot with friends and colleagues who do partake, and I was impressed with the set up, own A/C or ventilation, and walking around the outside if it, you did not smell...

    Poor weather this weekend (02/10)

Windy.com is very good with an animated map. You can choose multiple layers, and also select the forecast model you want to use for certain weather phonemena.

    Roscoff-Morlaix

When did it stop operating? I was last there in 2019 and thought I saw evidence of running over the line but could well be wrong.

Smart Motorways, is it time to end them?

ALR is what gets my goat, very dangerous in my opinion. I have no issue with the smart technology to manage the running lanes, however this is regularly let down by the operators. Far too often have I seen restrictions and messages left up for too long, or forgotten about. Couple this with the...

Strange wiring on an Azuma 801 228

Suspect the 'tin foil' is what is otherwise known as 'speed tape', basically an aluminium pressure sensitive tape, that is very strong, and also offers very good protection. Commonly used for all manner of minor repairs to aircraft, also racing cars, indeed it was seen being applied to the...

If a cyclist, do you use dedicated cycle paths?

Whilst there is an element of being slowed down, I would still argue infrastructure is the problem, as has been said on this thread, our cycle ways are often poorly designed and maintained, and can often end of causing greater risk all round. Until we make serious efforts to sort...

If a cyclist, do you use dedicated cycle paths?

I have a road bike and am another who manages about 20 mph when out and about. Generally, I am on the road. I can only think of two proper cycle ways in my area, one of them is actually good, but is less than a mile long, and at its ends you are forced back onto the road, at rather busy...

    UK's Best Roller Coaster/ Ride

Only been the once sadly, queues were so long we never managed it, bit of an epic fail really, four of us went (not having children) on a Saturday of a half term. Lesson learnt there!

    UK's Best Roller Coaster/ Ride

Think for me it has to be toss up between Galatica/Air and Nemesis. I would highlight I have only been to the Towers and Thorpe Park in the UK. I do really like the phone position of Galatica/Air. Is Blackpool worth the journey for someone very much based down South? Elsewhere, undoubtedly the...

Losing weight and going to the gym

I've tried the energy drinks / protein shakes, and not found any benefit to be fair. Proper hydration with water beforehand, and maybe a electrolytic drink after. I have looked at the protein content of some of the protein / energy drinks and it is massive, only needed if you really want some...

Class 484 replacing class 483 on the island line: progress updates

Could also be to do with the weight restriction on the deck of the ship. Not sure of the weight of a 484 carriage plus the road vehicle its on, but all apart from the most modern RoRo's are designed to accommodate road vehicles weighing up to 35t. Often they will have certain lanes that are...
