Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

Its a very different culture in the ROI. We are dealing with gangs of kids. Only language they understand. If you are not living in Ireland, you won't know what it is like. We usually swear at the local feral youths. I should have been more clear. 1745605862 We have fun with them.. As RPU, we...

    Irish Train Identifiers

Almost the same as the UK. E is a dart, D is a outbound commuter, P is a inbound commuter and A is any Intercity train. A1xx is Belfast A2xx is Cork Etc Have the current WTT as staff but don't want to get in trouble for sharing that!

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

We don't have the luxury of the BTP. We are on our own. I would like to say that for the 1% of passengers we do swear at, the other 99% we would bend over backwards to help. Many of us have Customer Service awards. We go above and beyond to help people. But we tolerate zero abuse, verbal or...

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

No. Now discretion is always used. 1745122030 You don't work in Ireland. We are 100% professional. We can switch off. Go from good morning to **** off and back. Different culture. As I said.. we had a one under. Trying to stop traffic and some one in a suit was screaming at me about missing a...

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

No. But when you get some stuck up ... screaming at you. And they make it personal, blaming me. They swear at me.. I swear back. Respect works both ways. Maybe its a culture difference between Ireland and the UK. And its a bye-law 17 offence. I have had people screaming at me while I am on the...

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

⁸ Keep an eye out for you next time. We cannot be everywhere at once. If you are with the NTA, you know legally, what happens. You folks really cause headaches We know what happens in Dun Laoghaire. And Tara St? 100% chance fined or told to politely "**** off " 1744593142 We know. 312 fpns in...

    Collision in Westport, Ireland 10/02/25

The damage doesn't look as bad. I had been under the impression that the freight had been going in the opposite direction and significant damage had been done to the full length of one ICR coach.

Leap Card zone extension in Ireland.

Just because its public, doesn't mean that we aware of it. That's the issue. You have provided more info here than management. There is no easy fix. We will see what management do. 1743632571 All the new coaches are in service. They are causing software issues with the different transmission on...

Leap Card zone extension in Ireland.

Anybody with a Leap card may be asked to pay for a full price ticket onboard. Huge issues in Connolly also as most boarding is through the side door. TFI doesn't have a say in cross border fares etc. The leap is a TFI product so technically it could be refused on the Enterprise. Taxsavers which...

Did BR Sectorisation Kill Mail by Rail? Can it Return?

EWS killed it. They had a monopoly so could charge what they wanted. Royal Mail said no eventually and looked at other options and never went back. My opinion is that the sale of all the freight companies (bar Freightliner) and RES to EWS killed mail and freight by rail. DRS etc had to start...

Leap Card zone extension in Ireland.

Capping should still be in place in some form. The info I have is (in typical NTA style) brief. There will be capping per zone as I understand it. The short hop zone will be replaced, but still exist in a new form. Again, the exact structure hasn't been provided to us but there may be an...

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

As RPU, board the train and show us your Priv/FIP if asked and we will advise you accordingly. We wouldn't fine you on Dublin commuter or Darts. You can buy a Priv ticket onboard Intercity trains but in most cases, check online fares first. 1743301661 Its a condition of carriage. No alcohol on...

Leap Card zone extension in Ireland.

Got info today that from Mon 28th April, Leap card zones will be extended to Drogheda, Wicklow, Enfield and Newbridge. €7.50 maximum fare. New zone based system coming in to cover bus, Luas & rail. That means you could travel from Drogheda to Wicklow for €7.50 as we understand it. I don't have...

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

On Irishrail barriers. Open stations are getting "valid ticket needed beyond this point" but there was an issue with the message in Irish so are being updated.

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

Yes they are. Discretion is required. EDIT- Just reread your post. No. If in your scenario, a person had a ticket going northbound but was asked to produce it on the southbound platform, a fine wouldn't be issued. They have a ticket.

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

Farranfore, given its location, would be a location where discretion is required. "Barrier" now refers to a physical barrier, Ticket vending machine or Leap card tag on pole/point. Ie "fare point". But in theory, you could be fined there if you were on the platform and couldn't produce a...

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

As already posted, S132 (2a) RSA 2005. I attached the bye-laws in another post. If you walk past barrier, tag on pole etc (ie onto the platform) you need a ticket. Its simple.

Could the UK be like the Republic of Ireland in terms of banning access to stations without a ticket?

Seriously.. Your not in Ireland. If you were practicing law here, you would know that. Its incorporated into current Law. Monday morning, Irishrail are in court. Come along and watch. I am aware its a site that can be viewed by all ages, so I avoided the usual short. Monday is find out stage for...
