What else should have been included in 'Network North' ?

There's a problem with these options though if you want to stay true to the Network North plans; all of them are actually in the North!

Tavistock Re-opening: how should the line be served and could the line be extended beyond Tavistock?

I do wonder (engineering, financial and planning challenges aside) and this is wrapped in a lot of baked pastry while floating high in the clouds, how operation could improve and what the time penalty would be if the line was extended from Gunislake to Tavistock rather than use the former track...

Land slip between Winchester and Basingstoke

Hi All, I've just been booted off the train at Basingstoke as there's a reported landslip between there and Winchester - no other details. Anyone on the forum know more? Shame, we've only just gotten over the one at Hook a few months back! Cheers, Dave

Suggestion: Barnstaple/Okehampton - Axminster local taktplan

Do you have a link to the post? Nice to make those statements but isn't Mark Hopwood the Managing Director for a train operating company and not a fund holder?

    A363 Bridge replacement Bradford-on-Avon

@Snow1964 you can see quite a few holes in the webbing of the bridge beam there in your photo!

    Siding Renewals at Micheldever

Is that the blue car transporter wagons? Sorry, I'm not upto date with the abbreviations! There was also work about 2.5km further south on Sunday at Weston Colley/Northbrook.

Should we go through a rationalisation programme of closing airports in the UK to combat climate change?

It's about an extra 2hr drive for me ;) or at least 1 change on the train and then a taxi or a bus. Soton Airport benefits from a very good rail service and bus links. Exeter, not so much. There's also Dorset's Ryanair hub sort of-ish in between the two. I'd also say pre collapse of Fly-be...

List your 3 most interesting and most boring parts of your local line

Whaaaaaaaaat? Yeah, the in and out of the tunnels makes it fun no? Plus the loops with various freight trains being overtaken, the randomness of whatever has been dumped at the old oil terminal at Micheldever station and then the sun shimmering off a misty morning over the River Dever. If you're...

    Why the Portishead Delay?

EVs are, in my opinion, great and much better than fossil fuel driven cars but they still get stuck in traffic along with everybody else and there's all the embodied carbon in producing them over producing using an (eek) existing DMU

    Why the Portishead Delay?

    Busway anyone? o_O

    Cross Country and Winchester stops

I'm in general disagreement as I now have a 40min wait in Basingjoke to connect to Winchester when this XC service passes straight through from Reading. This is off the back of an earlier cancellation as well!

Work on Okehampton Line: progress updates

Yep, I managed to completely miss this article so thanks for posting!

Ideas for future SWML stopping patterns, including option to withdraw all XC services from the line

With you on that one. Much less stressful to sit on one train than traipse across the Tube even if the saving is 10mins etc. Probably completely unsubstantiated (clearly need to find some sort of academic article) but it seems that one change of trains is acceptable with more than that putting...

Restoring Your Railway Fund: what ideas would you suggest?

I was surprised by the number for the Westcountry. Many of them could well be on the 'mad' list ;)

I saw on BBC news it's been released for December!

Ideas/suggestions & other speculation for Okehampton / Exmouth lines

The station is well worth it for the nearby pub though....
