Derby Telegraph "Plans to convert Monsal Trail back into railway takes 'significant step forward'"

It would provide a faster public transport link across Derbyshire where the northern boroughs are quite isolated from the rest of the county (and sometimes quite deprived). It could also provide a much more direct route for the EMR Liverpool to Norwich service and make the heart of the Peak...

Goblin - Watford DC line link

Does this mean you could perhaps reopen Primrose Hill station at the same time? Could take pressure off Camden Road - Camden Town interchanges (Chalk Farm is close by) and serve Primrose Hill itself/the southern end of Belzize Park.

Northern Tender for up to 450 units

Ah OK, so Sprinter replacement only. Makes sense.

Northern Tender for up to 450 units

Gold standard wibble. The upcoming order is to repalce the Sprinters (15x) and cascade the Turbostars (170s).

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

Certainly, but the rail replacement contractors the TOCs use still offer a poor rate.

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

Because, as another member said, they won't pay enough for most existing operators to bother running RRBs - let alone them buying a fleet of buses.

Restore Your Railway - South Fylde

The station would be miles outside Fleetwood because the northern section of Amounderness Way took the trackbed into central Fleetwood. Much better to extend the tram from a junction at Lindel Road stop and down to a separate but close terminus at Poulton le Fylde. This would also mean more...

New railway lines and stations for South Yorkshire

Sorry for the slow reply - election season! I meant a branch on street up Leppings Lane and Halifax Road to the Stockbridge line overbridge and then repurposing the access road on the left before the bridge to rise to the level of the railway line. Some works needed, but not a huge amount.

Restore Your Railway - South Fylde

Not a bad idea. What would you do with the Fleetwood line?

Restore Your Railway - South Fylde

That and, for repeat visitors by train, the opportunity to avoid the Blackpool North station experience!

Stations Which Could Have New Platforms on Nearby Lines

And crucially I suspect new platforms at Lostock would be cheaper than more work at Bolton. The current set at Lostock are very basic, but don't need much modification.

New railway lines and stations for South Yorkshire

Would ordering more Citylinks and extending the Rotherham tram train to Leppings Lane, then using the aforementioned road and Halifax Rd to reach the Stockbridge line be a more sensible solution than a new viaduct across the valley?

Restore Your Railway - South Fylde

Can the branch justify 2tph of train service with train running costs though? Wouldn't a more frequent and cheaper tram (with through ticketing) be better than the current slow diesel branch which terminates in the back of beyond?

Stations Which Could Have New Platforms on Nearby Lines

Lostock is probably one of the most worthy examples on the network. The bus links between most of western/northern Bolton and Wigan are poor, there is a very congested road that is the main alternative and the only rail routing is to go into Bolton, change and out again (at a significant time...

    Flights you have been on

The wording may have been less formal, but it was clearly regularly requested before that date.

    Flights you have been on

Ah OK, so essentially just a unspoken rule that got formalised.

Restore Your Railway - South Fylde

An hour?! It's 41 mins to North Pier, and will likely be 45 mins through to North station when the extension opens soon. 25 mins onto Preston, so more like 1hr15. Quickest way directly from Fleetwood is bus 74/75 to Poulton station (about 30 mins), then approx 17 mins to Preston. The 74/75...

Especially if it was part of the tram network and had links all the way up the shore.

    Closest London airport to Southampton

Yes, the only issue is alternatives if Ryanair have issues! But I'd say the OP shoulf give it a try. I considered the flightline, but it is an hour and a half from Basingstoke to Heathrow, so it isn't really suitable for business travel. On leisure I'd definitely use it.
