That's a pretty big "All"
I'd love it if I could use random trains and buses to get to my destination using a single app that also warned me about disruption
We should have one of those country wide TBH
The fact it's happened to two random people on a board makes me doubt it's that rare.
What are you basing your rarity claim on? Is there stats you've seen, personal anecdotes or just good old sunny optimism?
I've had this happen to me but Stafford and no tent.
But apparently "this hardly ever happens" and we're just imagining a train service that's incompetent bordering on abusive
You have to understand that customers don't care nor should they care about which train operating company or signal box made the decision, to them it's "the railway" and complaining about customers "blaming the wrong person" is unproductive and meaningless.
Are you going to escort the...
When people buy a ticket they're not also signing up to be disadvantaged For The Good Of The Railway, they're paying to get where they're going.
I've experienced being turfed out onto a freezing cold platform for god only knows how long, I imagine there's almost nobody using rail who hasn't had...
But that's exactly what happened, the passengers gave the railway a good few hours and without any training or protocols or drills managed to quickly evacuate themselves.
Why were the passengers better at it than the railway?
Why wasn't keeping the passengers updated (even via a megaphone)...
Or a chat app. Wow phone calls?
Hope I'm not speaking out of turn but having a resliency plan of "we chuck three people at it and they answer the phone and figure it out on the go" is just terrible terrible management, not least for the poor people chucked in.
We could solve this by segregating driverless traffic into it's own dedicated route.
Oh if we're doing that we could optimise the route so the cars are on some metal guidance system to reduce friction, increase speed dramatically and reduce fuel consumption
Oh if we're doing that we could also...
Stations could quite easily capture facial recognition at entry points and scan at exit, that way you wouldn't need gate lines at all and people could just leave the station.
That's an evasion rate of <1%, I don't understand how the fare evasion infrastructure (patrolling guards, barriers etc) is justified on cost grounds with statistically everybody paying the correct fare, let alone the inconvenience to the paying customers
We suffered about a decade of disruption and billions of tax-payer's pounds have been spent upgrading this line to have timetables that routinely collapse and STILL being jammed into coaches. What was all the disruption and cost in aid of then?
I used to commute on the Marches and now I WFH partially due to COVID and I just have to say I'm so glad I don't have to use that garbage service any more. Eight YEARS of overcrowded late trains and empty promises. I don't know what they would have to do to lure me back but a guarantee not to...
