I wonder if the audio format for the announcement files could be .vqf ? I found some information on Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TwinVQ
Of particular interest was this part:-
The proprietary version of TwinVQ can be also used for speech encoding. Compression technology...
Very good - I wonder if the different version numbers was why you were unable to get the announcements working previously? Perhaps they will work with the newer controller.
That sounds like the Network West Midlands route - available here - https://sites.google.com/a/bve4trains.com/bve4trains/trains-for-open-bve-and-bve-4/nwm-2019-wip
Could be, although I did notice that the DfT already held slightly different versions of some of these logos previously:-

Gatwick Express

Some interesting recent trademarks with the The Secretary of State for Transport:-

It's unlikely, but it would be quite nice to see some more slam-door EMUs - A decent EPB or perhaps a 310-312. A new class 90 would be a good idea too.
Have you been able to get the announcements working? Also, there is another Power / brake controller on ebay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286393447369 - it's interesting to see the Westinghouse label as I had thought that they were made by Davies & Metcalfe (I'm pretty sure the 465 ones were)
Indeed - I did wonder at the time if they were planning something like this. The unit has also received the name Chris Green:-

I have a feeling the "clicking" sound is used by the controller software to stich the individual sections of audio together into announcements. Presumably the software was able to filter this out. Could you post the output of FFMPEG?
I assume you are referring to your original controller with the GN destinations? If so, you might want to try replacing the RAM chip before spending money on a new unit. This also doesn't explain why the audio announcements are not playing with the working SE controller. I do seem to remember...
The only other thing that I can think of is the audio EPROMs - are you certain that the SE ones are installed? It's possible the audio unit you own may have come from one of the original GN batch and therefore not contain the SE files. If so, you could probably switch the EPROM boards.
