Agreed!
If the publicised reason was given as , " service cancelled because it's Mother's day and also the sun is shining"
could it shame those in charge to get their act together?
Probably not!
Getting close I think although they were landscape in style rather than portrait.
Maybe it was a type of season ticket which makes sense.
Thank you to everyone for your input.
My father used to work on the railway and as a child I seem to remember having a green cardboard pass measuring 4" by 3".
On a train journey once I remember someone showing a pink/ purple one to the ticket collector and I've always wondered who those were issued to.
Many thanks in advance.
My flat overlooks the rail line near Torquay and we want to fell a large tree just inside our boundary because it could topple onto the track.
The council won't let us, so each year we apply nevertheless so that if the worst happens we can point the finger of blame at Torbay Council.
I think I read previously that there is a simulator, if correct would that be at Laira or elsewhere?

It's really enlightening for an ordinary customer like myself to hear facts about strengthening the fleet from well informed posters on the forum.
So thank you all.
Within twelve months it seems that service cancellations/short forms should have reduced significantly.
As GWR hold the details of...
Going slightly off- topic with this anecdote from my childhood circa 1960....
Whilst waiting at Shrub Hill my mum and I watched a service depart platform 3, but unfortunately the rear coach hadn't been coupled. Frustratingly I'm not sure how long before the driver found out.
Isn't this perhaps only for an initial period of maybe 12 months whilst drivers are trained for the 175s and then many services WILL run Cardiff to Penzance?
Not sure if this is coincidental, but whilst I was waiting at Teignmouth Station today a pre recorded announcement came over the tannoy from Steve Backshall asking people to be careful walking near cliff edges etc. and to check the tide and wind tables too.
RNLI was also mentioned.
What will the projected timescale be to get them introduced into service be please?
I've no idea how long driver, maintenance training will take.
Also will they be put to use before they have all been rebranded as GWR?
