Could steam engines provide steam heating for rail tours?

I was only almost 13 at the time and have no idea of the service name. Lovely photo of the steam leaking.

Could steam engines provide steam heating for rail tours?

I went on the Jacobite in 1990 but it would have been in August. That could in theory be provided by a second steam engine. I'm not saying anyone would want to do it in practice. I didn't know this but I do now. How interesting.

Could steam engines provide steam heating for rail tours?

That makes sense now. I was under the misapprehension the diesel provided steam heating. Probably because there was a time when some diesels did, I believe. 1722153931 Interesting. Thanks for that.

Could steam engines provide steam heating for rail tours?

I appreciate why diesel locomotives are added to the back of rail tours. They provide steam heating and also additional power for the trains when going up gradients. Also when the train needs to go in the opposite direction without being turned they can be used. Ignoring, gradient issues, the...

Ordinary passengers using heritage railways as public transport.

When I use to go to the Status Quo Fan Club convention, I'd love to have gone their my train but I needed to arrive on a Friday and depart on a Monday and on one or both of those days, there was no service, so it never happened. I have travelled back from Bunkfest using the heritage service...

Heritage railway electrification: Will it ever become a reality?

As there was never electrification between Horstwad Keynes and Sheffield Park, I don't see the need there.

Heritage railway electrification: Will it ever become a reality?

The question is, would it run further from Haywards Heath than Horsted Kyenes? :D

Heritage railway electrification: Will it ever become a reality?

Playing devil's advocate I don't see any legal reason why they can't choose to operate under a higher order than the light railways one. I fully accept why it won't happen in the real world. I would love it to happen but appreciate it can't.

Steam railtours which don't usually have diesel attached to the rear

Have any rail tours used steam engines at the back to help them instead of a diesel?

    Timekeeping on the Ffestiniog

I appreciate everything you say but what happens if a member of the public arrives by public transport and misses their connection home at the end? Should people allow an extra 60 minutes at the end of their trip to account for potential delays during the trip? I appreciate it is a minority...

Why did the NYMR not save the line from Pickering To Malton?

Well I'd need to have cycle training first and allot money to buying a bike. Neither likely to happen any time soon. Too many other interests. 1676906873 Well the Bluebell Railway want to run to Haywards Heath but maybe that will be a separate platform in some way.

Why did the NYMR not save the line from Pickering To Malton?

I've done that route before, as well as the train via Middlesborough. Cycling it sounds lovely. Alas, due to disabilies I could only ride a bike if it has at least three wheels but I don't as some people thought I'd look silly riding one.

Why did the NYMR not save the line from Pickering To Malton?

Whilst I fully accept their arguments, as someone who doesn't drive, I wish it had been possible to extend it to the end of the original route.

What about creating a 1980s style preserved railway?

It did. I was just reminded of it when someone was talking about OLE.

What about creating a 1980s style preserved railway?

Guildford station was rebuilt in 1987. Not all of it was rebuilt fhen though. That would be 1980s. It is going to be rebuilt again soon enough. So if one wanted to recreate it.

What about creating a 1980s style preserved railway?

Imagine the issues if someone wanted to recreate the London and Brighton South Coast Railway OLE. I can't remember the voltage off hand but I am sure it isn't one used now.

What about creating a 1980s style preserved railway?

I'd love to see an electric preserved railway but it would require more health and safety work composted to a diesel or steam line.

Nice. A friends Gran leaves in Beverly so I must find out if they have been there.

Are there any gas lit carriages in preseevation and can they be run in service??

I was attending an Advanced Streets training course a few years ago and that is where I first heard of the gaslighting in London. If I remember correctly, one council, I think Westminister, maintains it on behalf of the other. So either they maintain it for the City of London or it's the other...

Are there any gas lit carriages in preseevation and can they be run in service??

I never realised caravans were gas lit too. I once stayed in a YHA that was lit by gas but that's about it.
