I went on the Jacobite in 1990 but it would have been in August.
That could in theory be provided by a second steam engine. I'm not saying anyone would want to do it in practice.
I didn't know this but I do now. How interesting.
That makes sense now. I was under the misapprehension the diesel provided steam heating. Probably because there was a time when some diesels did, I believe.

Interesting. Thanks for that.
I appreciate why diesel locomotives are added to the back of rail tours. They provide steam heating and also additional power for the trains when going up gradients. Also when the train needs to go in the opposite direction without being turned they can be used.
Ignoring, gradient issues, the...
When I use to go to the Status Quo Fan Club convention, I'd love to have gone their my train but I needed to arrive on a Friday and depart on a Monday and on one or both of those days, there was no service, so it never happened.

Well the Bluebell Railway want to run to Haywards Heath but maybe that will be a separate platform in some way.
I've done that route before, as well as the train via Middlesborough.
Cycling it sounds lovely. Alas, due to disabilies I could only ride a bike if it has at least three wheels but I don't as some people thought I'd look silly riding one.
Guildford station was rebuilt in 1987. Not all of it was rebuilt fhen though. That would be 1980s. It is going to be rebuilt again soon enough. So if one wanted to recreate it.
Imagine the issues if someone wanted to recreate the London and Brighton South Coast Railway OLE. I can't remember the voltage off hand but I am sure it isn't one used now.
I was attending an Advanced Streets training course a few years ago and that is where I first heard of the gaslighting in London. If I remember correctly, one council, I think Westminister, maintains it on behalf of the other. So either they maintain it for the City of London or it's the other...
