Hi all, I was passing DIRFT en route to Birmingham on the 2Y30 to New Street at about 1605, and I saw a Class 08 near the line. Question is, is there an 08 now allocated there? I certainly can't see one in this year's Platform 5 Locomotives and Coaching Stock book!

Any chance you could clarify where DRIFT is and also what 2Y30 is (obviously it's an arrival at New Street but from where?) as I don't believe everyone will understand what they are?

We do ask that people try and avoid Rail Jargon without defining it first :)

Having never been to Daventry and only ever passing quickly through the West Midlands in general I had no idea whatsoever DIRFT would have anything to do with a freight terminal. You'll forgive me but I do not believe it to be clear whether or not it's 'railtalk' ;)

You are then assuming that all forum members use the M1 through Northamptonshire.

No idea what the signs on the M1 say to be honest, I just remember passing the outskirts of Rugby in a car going to Bruntingthorpe, and there was a couple of signs with a truck icon and said D.I.R.F.T

There are 2 shunters at Dirft - 08445 and 08823. Both are yellow, blue and green with the 1st one having a yellow roof and the 2nd one has a blue roof.

Details taken from Shunterspot.

Although I cannot turn up the actual post now, the Moderators recently stated that the location must be entered in full for the first post to avoid people having to go "digging".

You don't need to go anywhere near Daventry to get to DIRFT...

Have you got the latest book (2015), which has recently been released? If so, the 08s that are at DIRFT are listed in the 'Industrial Service' section at the back of the book.

EDIT: Just checked the 2014 book and 08445/823 are printed in the same section, and listed as at DIRFT.
