woh! Can't believe Brian Souter bought some paint and is even starting to do HSTs at Neville Hill too :D
I do prefer it on 156s compared to 153s. Hopefully the mentioned refurbishment of 158s will come to standards of the superb SWT ones we have at the moment. Thanks for the info!

Hmm.... Hard to tell from those shots, but I don't think it looks as bad as I thought it would. I still don't particulaly like them, though.

there is something odd about it isn't there? It's not exactly gripped me like the NXEA 156 did :|

It's just not a nice colour for the units IMO. The NX livery looks good, the FSR livery does too. The SPT colours work not badly, as did Central's. Even "one" livery looked OK (despite the fact I hate it so badly). Stagecoach should just use the same livery as they shall do on the 222s.

I've been trying to find a 222 image, but they keep being too large or turning into porn  (Does anyone know why it's doing that?)

(I'm trying to find a small EMT 222 image)

That looks quite good. Better than red, anyway.

Not keen on the white livery. White should NEVER be used on intercity services due to clag and brake dust which makes them look a right state. 222s are notorious for the amount of brake dust that gathers on the windows. They should learn from BR - hence the reason intercity livery was mostly black with a neat red stripe!

I think it looks quite bright and vibrant - better than the SPT one. I think the fSR livery works on everything except the 156's. Not sure what it is, but I think it is the covering of the toilet windows on the FSR ones looks silly.

I like FSR 156s all over. I think covering the toilet windows does look a bit silly, but they can get away with it IMO.

It would work if the 156s went through the trainwash as often as the 170's. Also the 170's look like they had 'gloss' paint, and the 156's look more matte and less shiny.....

Rancid! Send it down to the South West, it will suit the are fine.

On a serious note, its ok I guess. Too much like SWT though. At least First Group had variants of their livery. Besides, who says just because its owned by the same company that it needs to look the same as the others the company own? Look at CrossCountry.

It'll look better than the NXEA 156 did just before easter - the white was a light brown colour and that was about 2 weeks after it was vinyled!

The wow factor and bright colour IMHO looks more appealing. Sadly this is being doen to cover up for the lack of investment in new stock by Toc / ROSCO/ DfT.

They should definately be spending their money on better things.
Some refurbing of old Sprinter units would be nice.

I really like it! I think it's one of the nicest liveries out there! And specifically, it's so much better than anything involving purple and pink!

But of course, yes, there's so many so much better things the money could be spent on...

Give them time! The livery I'm sure isn't the only thing they will ever spend out on.

it says in the link that 158s are being totally refurbed in the summer. 156s were refurbished between 2001-2003. The ex-ATW and FGW / Northern 153s need it badly though!

Well Sprinters ARE really nothing more than toys! :-P

Lets see what it looks like in a month or two, both the 153's they did are looking in a right state at the minute!

mostly because it was cheap vynils and the 374 says ' AST IDLANDS TRAINS'

374 looks good compared to the other one (the number escapes me) I saw it the other week and it looked like it had acid tipped over it!

355 I think. wouldn't suprise me if it did have acid tipped over it. EMT look liked they USED acid in their extremely vigorous and violent branding removal! one of the TPE 158s looks terrible, on one side it's gone right through to old paint jobs where CT has been peeled off

According to PaintYourWagon, a UID 158 is in EMT livery, but still not confirmed (for all I know could have been mistaken for a SWT one)
