Evening all,

It's been a long day so before I go to bed.

Can anyone help with the following info.

In 1985 what would be the times from Abergavenny to Newport departing at about 9am.
Anyone able give me the times and headcode?
Where would of the train started from?
And the stock type ?

I'm trying to make out what was written in an old dilapidated notebook.

Thanks in advance,

Just had a look on Timetable world, the nearest I can find is 1982.

Abergavenny to Newport departing at about 9am
Abergavenny 8.35am arrives Newport 9.02am
Abergavenny 10.01am arrives Newport 10.27am

Both of these started at Shrewsbury, shown in Table 87.

Sorry I can't tell you the head codes but I hope this helps.
Andy.

From 16/5/83 to 13/5/84 PB WTT (so again not for the dates requested):
1V02 08:37 Abergavenny - Newport 09:04 D2 (see https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/wtt-1963-query.225752/#post-5438768) 06:00 from Crewe
1V03 09:59 Abergavenny - Newport 10:25 D210 08:01 from Crewe

Better: 14/5/84 to 12/5/85 PB WTT
1V02 08:28 Abergavenny - Newport 08:57 D2 06:00 from Crewe
1V03 SX 09:55 Abergavenny - Newport 10:19 D210 VB 07:12 from Manchester Piccadilly, 11 minutes later SO

You don't say what day of the week ....... kind of relevant for a timetable! I'm assuming you don't mean Sunday.

13/5/85 to 11/5/86 CA WTT (so no times for Abergavenny-Newport)
1V02 06:28 Crewe-Cardiff D2
1V03 07:19 Manchester Piccadilly - Cardiff D210 Class 33 locomotive (explicit in the timetable, although the earlier years will probably have been as well)

1V03 from Manchester was electrically-hauled as far as Crewe, I caught it once from Wilmslow on a cold winter morning.

The 06:00 and 08:01 Crewe-Cardiff workings would have been loco hauled with Mk1 stock and Class 33 or 47 haulage in 1985. By 1985 most of the Cardiff-Crewe trains were extended to/from Manchester or Banger and 47s were replacing the 33s on the extended diagrams.
