Hello all,

Could anyone please offer me some advice on ATOC card holders privileges, reference ticket discounts.
I work for FGW and thus have free travel on their services, in addition to this I also have a TOCNE privilege card. I wish to travel from London to Leeds on a one off trip. As I understand it, I can get a 75% discount for a ticket for myself. Is there any possible discount I can get for my girlfriend for this single trip, if she is travelling with me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.....

The discount will only apply to Anytime tickets, therefore you are looking at a 75% discount on the Anytime Return between London and Leeds which is £249. Public rate Advance fares are usually cheaper on these trips.

If you require flexibility, then it probably will be cheaper to split.

Your girlfriend cannot get a discount on your card. She needs her own discount card if eligible for one.

Can you not make use of Hull Trains for parts of the journey, eg. between London and Doncaster?

Too true!

If the relationship is serious, and you have been living together for two years, then she will qualify for travel facilities as your partner. Contact Rail Staff Travel Ltd. for more details.

Depending on your length of service you may qualify for Friends & Family tickets from the www.firstmyrewards.com website. You will need a separate ticket for each of the First TOCs used - Hull trains are booked separately from a different quota. Full details from the site.

Yes, and First Transpennine Express from Selby(?) to Leeds.

To work out if you can travel with First all the way 1) Find a friendly avantix operator 2) input your start & finish stations in the timetable enquiry section. 3) Allow it to work out a TT enquiry (this will be the fastest route) 4) select "MORE" & change the select operator box from "EXC" to "INC" then input all the First TOCS and London Underground. 5) select ok & await results.

Bingo

If you get free travel on First TPE as well as FGW, then why not go:

Hull Trains London-Doncaster
TPE Doncaster - Manchester Piccadilly
TPE Manchester Piccadilly - Leeds

for a completely free if somewhat indirect journey? :D

Nice run through the Hope Valley into the bargain!

Not at work so please confirm this alternative:-

London - Hull (HT)
Hull - Leeds (TPE)

Or even London - Selby - Leeds?

I have encountered people going from London to Edinburgh/Glasgow between Doncaster & Manchester before, for this reason!

But to get to Leeds, Selby is the obvious changing point. (While you're there, take a look to see if there's a misleading notice above the screen of the ticket machine... two forum members were going to complain to TPE but I guess they haven't as it was still there!)
