Has anyone use the 4-Fahrten Karte (described at 4-Fahrten karte) on their mobile app? I'm wondering how it is done, because the BVG app says the ticket is "valid from purchase for a [] maximum 2 hours" as in the screenshot here. How do i access them one at a time does anyone know? Many thanks,

p.s. anyone know how I can make the app work in German - cannot find a setting anywhere, except by changing the language of the whole phone to german.

Here is the info on the BVG website.

No idea exactly how it works, but I imagine you simply have to validate the individual segment. 4-journey tickets aren't uncommon in Germany (I remember using them in Erfurt 20 years ago when they were on paper) and I note that you can get one at a TVM.

Why bother with the BVG app? You can buy the same ticket in the DB Navigator. At least on my phone I can that app's language independently of the phone's language.

In the DB Navigator, you buy the 4-Fahrten-Karte and pay the whole price at once and the first of four trips is activated then. After that, you go again through the process of buying that 4-Fahrten-Karte in the app, but it knows you still have some trips left and you're not charged anything while redeeming them.

DB app sells tickets for most(all?) Verkehrsverbund.

If you know exactly what you want then from the front go to tickets, scroll past regional offers to transport associations.

Otherwise, plan the journey -it can work at bus stop or address level (National Rail and Traveline take note) - then go to offers and often you see single, day ticket, groups, seasons etc for the correct zones. It may say don’t know how to (e.g, in Stuttgart recently it can price tram 1 zone but not tram+S-Bahn).

Germany can be surprisingly good (despite otherwise creaky IT), local transport real time data can show up in DB Navigatorand v.v.

I think it's a mistranslation / bad UX, each "activation" or "validation" of a ticket is valid for 120 mins.
And you have 4 "validations" available on the ticket.
It is important to note that it's 1 way. If you start at HbF, you cannot do a circular journey to explore the U-Bahn and return back to HbF.

With a paper ticket, there should be a stamping machine at the platform to validate. On the mobile app, there will presumably be a button which says "Activate" or "Validate" with the app using your location to show which station you are at. Confirm the station is correct before validating.

Once you've bought the 4-journeys ticket, there will be an option in the app to activate/validate one of the tickets (or indeed 2 of them in one go, if travelling with a second person); the digital equivalent of getting it stamped by the platform machines. From the point of activation/validation, it is valid for 120 minutes (though, as said above, one-way only).
