Hi mate, I am looking for Intermodal, aggerates, light loco, test trains, engineering trains and anything unusual (no steam)Are you looking for anything in particular such as steam, intermodal, a class of loco or just general activity going on?
Cheers, I add it to my list.Nuneaton is pretty busy at some times of day.
Some great info, thanksOxford would be a good start going by your location - plenty of Intermodal on the Southampton route, a few test trains, and engineering workings To/from Hinksey and Didcot yards as well as others passing through. Further afield you have Eastleigh which is a big southern region base and so sees lots of movements to/from and around the yards there. There's also Nuneaton and Water Orton within reasonable distance for more Intermodals and Aggregates traffic.
Have a look at Real Time Trains as well, do ask if you need help identifying the classes or specifically test trains. Key freight corridors are mainly between big cities and ports, such as Southampton and Felixstowe to London, Birmingham and Manchester. Also freight from Bristol and the Mendips can come up through Reading.
Yes, I heard a rumour that it keeps people fit, up and down stairs.Tamworth. Horrible station but very busy
I am sure if you stood by the lift on the Birmingham bound platform i bet you could cover all linesYes, I heard a rumour that it keeps people fit, up and down stairs.
I'd say Didcot is better than Oxford. You get pretty much all the freight that goes through Oxford, but also freightliners, aggregate trains and others (Theale tanks, binliner) to/from the West, aggregate to Appleford sidings (apart from those which use the West Curve if you're on the station) and the car trains from Cowley. There aren't any engineering trains which use Didcot Yard at present, but there can be shunting and often locos on the fuel point and stabling roads. Some great info, thanks
Reading West is also decent - still get the stuff to Southampton, also get the Mendips stone trains that come over the B&H.I'd say Didcot is better than Oxford. Very popular, definitely on my list.Don't forget Stafford.

Might be worth considering.Reading West is also decent - still get the stuff to Southampton, also get the Mendips stone trains that come over the B&H.
