Best way to get Flexi Season ticket and keep track

I've just started a new job in Manchester and plan to get a train from my local Mossley station but I'm brand new to trains.

The station seems nice but I'm worried about getting a ticket everyday (well 3 days a week) from the kiosk, I was told by the nice lady there told me about the flexi season tickets and checking online they would save me over £200 a day.

Now it looks like it will only be Transpenine Express trains I will be getting, I was wondering if there's a way to buy these Flexi tickets on an app so I have easy access to it on my phone, know how many uses are left and can easily top it up without having to wait at the kiosk?

I hope that's the case but if not what is the best way to sort these tickets?

You can certainly buy a flexi season on the Northern app (the only one I have), and get a new one when it expires. I imagine other suppliers, including our own site (see top of page) can do the same.

The Anytime Day Return from Mossley to Manchester is £8.30. A Flexi Season valid for 8 day trips is £59.20. 3 trips a week over 8 weeks would be £199.20 as singles or £177.60 as flexi-season.

Not sure how you worked out that it could save you £200 per day. More like £11 per month.

That was meant to say about £200 a year but that also wasn't what I meant for the focus of my post to be, it was to get advice on the best way to get these tickets and if it could be done easily digitally.

So thanks @30907 for your reply and for the info, I did get speaking to some people on the train and they advised me the Trainline app did what I wanted so I bought the Flexi pass on there and used it this morning, and it seems to work well and do what I needed thanks.
