Noticed yesterday that Bread Box at Manchester Piccadilly has gone, just an empty space where it stood.

I believe they had other locations, does anyone know what's happened to them, is it just Manchester they've vacated or have they gone out of business?

Shame if they've gone. Often used them for a reasonably priced cuppa.

grim place where all these ready made rolls are on display in the open getting crustier and crustier as the day goes on..and you can see the cheese getting harder and harder.

They also ask you if you want your chicken salad roll HOT!

Their breakfast rolls are ok i guess.

Greggs should really be in train stations...although to pay for the high rents theyd have to raise prices.

They've been gone for at least a month now. They were cheap but made awful tea :(

The problem arises where they don't let you put your own milk in. Coffee drinkers always put too much in.

I blame the increase in coffee drinking.

I must admit that I rarely used Bread Box for food but it was very useful for a quick coffee straight off the train for just £1.

If anyone is after a cheap drink then Carluccio's on the upper concourse do hot drinks for £1 before 12pm. Or they did last time I used it, in additon next to Greggs on Piccadily Approach there is a Waitrose, where so long as you have a Waitrose Card(It`s free) you can get a free hot drink.

Perhaps not for much longer.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ustomers-deal-attracts-wrong-sort-people.html

...Waitrose has put restrictions on its give-away of free takeaway coffee for loyalty card holders at eight stores.

The change means that customers now have to buy something else before they can collect a free hot drink.

The move follows complaints from customers in some towns that the deal was creating queues and attracting the 'wrong sort of people'.

Small independent coffee shops have also been critical of the scheme, complaining that it is taking away vital custom....

At least there is far more of vibrancy of all types of retail outlets on Manchester Piccadilly station than can be found on that mausoleumic tribute to the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway that currently masquerades as Manchester Victoria station...<(

the little coffee shop does a mean espresso.

Manchester Victoria probably has the worst pub in the whole rail network awful range and london prices

Should be so much better. They sell awful Greene King muck on tap although the bottle range is pretty good.

Carluccio's still run the offer; and IMO offer the best coffee on the station.

Starbucks also do a filter coffee for £1 which isn't bad either.

The article says it *can't* be a plastic bag.

Some form of pastry or chocolate to accompany the coffee might be a good choice :)

Do they? Is that the off-menu "short" size, as a "tall" is about £1.50, same as other Starbucks elsewhere.

Can people please quote a small section from linked articles, or at least explain the general context, especially in the case of links to extreme media outlets such as the Daily Mail.

I do remember them advertising it about 1 month ago, I will have to check to see whether it is still the same price.

I find Greggs seems a lot more expensive these days than it used to be! I get inflation and the like but sausage rolls used to be 3 for £1.20 now they're almost getting to that price each (and they're smaller!)

Piccadilly needs a McDonalds or something really, the Burger King struggles to cope with the demand. I haven't been in a while, who has taken up the old amusement arcade unit as I know that was closing down?

Gregg's are probably getting ideas above their station, what with all this eat in silliness.

I can't be doing with BK if there's nowhere to sit down.

Is that a reference to a first floor / mezzanine retail outlet and what station do you refer to?

Will someone please give an updated list of all the hot food outlets within the confines of Manchester Piccadilly station, please.

Surely it's Carluccio's that's getting ideas above its station? Greggs is getting ideas just outside.

Good point well made

It's station in the retail order !

I noticed a similar thing in Marks and Spencers today. Three quarters of their trousers appeared to be fifty quid each with hardly any at the £20 range. They must think we're al millionaires with money to burn !
