Car struck bridge, rolled over, chunk of masonery fell and struck train.

From http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/trains-delayed-bricks-hit-train-13106833

Rail passengers have been told to expect delays and diversions after a suspected stolen car crashed into a railway bridge in Kings Heath.

The crash happened in Vicarage Road at about 6am this morning, with debris falling onto the track and a train that was passing underneath.

The train was empty but for the driver and West Midlands Fire and Rescue said the train he was "slightly shocked" but had no injuries

Pleased the train driver is "only" slightly shocked.

West Mids Fire Service have pictures on their Facebook page. 220 with a cracked front end. Nasty smash on the bridge by the looks of it.

A stolen car drove into the edge of the bridge, knocking debris onto an (empty) Voyager below. Train driver unhurt, though a little shocked. No major delays to Cross City or Cross Country.

As would be expected, Crosscountry's Manchester-Bristol and vice versa services have been routed via Selly Oak, in addition to the Daventry- Wentloog tesco train and 6V92 Corby-Margam.

The timing of the strike was particularly unfortunate when you consider that the Camp Hill line only sees one passenger train an hour in each direction, with a few freights and ecs moves such as this one.
