We have tickets on Regiojet from Budapest Kelenfold to Vienna HBF tomorrow.

However, I notice our train is starting from Deli (I just put Budapest into the journey information without selecting a specific station, and it gave me Kelenfold).

Would we be allowed to board at Deli? Or have we got to get a tram out to Kelenfold and start from there as it says Kelenfold on the ticket?

Prices appear to be the same from Déli and Kelenföld so I doubt it will be a problem.

Scott from the YouTube channel Planes Trains Everything has a video on it doing exactly that and asking that exact question, his report is that, yes you will
I quite enjoy his videos. His end to end trip (back when it was possible ) was fascinating.

I hadn’t seen that one about Regiojet, just caught up with it now. He’s quite nervous about boarding at Deli but all seems to be ok.

I think my worry is how proactive inspectors are on public transport here in Budapest. We’ve been getting everything correct so far and the inspectors have been lovely with us. But I’ve seen first hand how they turn if someone refuses to get a valid ticket. I’d hate to be on the wrong end of that conversation!

Edit: Sent Regiojet an email and they’ve confirmed the ticket is valid from both stations, just in case anyone uses this forum to search the same question in the future.

Scott is very funny, and I enjoy his videos a lot. His comment about drinking coffee to "get him up to cruising altitude" always cracks me up. His friendly rivalry with Steve Marsh (and Alicija!) makes for some great exchanges.

I do like how he visits a lot of places off the beaten track too. I'm sure no one would have really thought of making a spontaneous travel video about Beauvais before.

We like Scott in our house but he has led to us describing coffees as "getting us up to cruising altitude" and me making a funny face every time I have a peroni

Always watch Scott's videos, and saw this one. He's a genuine traveller too, and interacts with the locals from time to time.

I travelled to Budapest with RegioJet two years ago. I wanted to go to Deli (which was shown in the online timetable) but I could only buy a ticket to Kelenfold where on arrival the platform indicator was showing the train as not in service. I checked with an onboard staff member who confirmed that train would continue to Deli and that my ticket was valid to there.

Another fan here of Scott's videos as well as Steve's and also those of Shrewsbury-based Mark Swain from the channel Let's Make a Trip who likewise posts journeys from home and abroad with good humour - here's his review of RegioJet in Business Class from last year:

Well we enjoyed our journey. Boarded at Deli with no problems. And we’re glad we did. It was pandemonium at Kelenfold with people and bags. Was very grateful we settled in at the much quieter Deli.

We went relaxed class and it was very pleasant. Business class was sold out when I booked but I prefer open saloons anyway. It was very comfortable with complementary water and coffee and the staff couldn’t do enough. It was busy and had a lively atmosphere but in a good way. Had two very well behaved children opposite us while their parents slept the whole way!

I would totally use Regiojet again. Well worth the price. The only downside is how manic it can get at major stations but there was good comradely amongst the passengers as everyone was making sure everyone else had somewhere to put luggage.
