Having looked on Flickr at photos of the vast amount of freight trains that once travelled the Calder Valley route in the BR Era from the mid eighties up until the end of BR, which traincrew depots would of driven the trains when travelling along the Calder Valley line, and would they have had the traction knowledge to drive the different traction types?

Healey Mills definitely.

Possibly also Warrington, Knottingley, Crewe, and (before it closed) Springs Branch ??

I was thinking Healey Mills too, but did Manchester Victoria used to have freight train drivers in the BR Era, and would they have had a driver change at Manchester Victoria, taking over from Healey Mills drivers?

Not sure, but Newton Heath seems more feasible if there were any North Manchester freight turns after the end of steam. Other depots in the area with freight turns included Buxton & Peak Forest, but I suspect they were more likely to be found on the Hope Valley than the Calder Valley.

Manchester Victoria had lots of freight work including working over the Calder Valley route.
Pretty sure the Summit tunnel fire was a freight crewed by Vic crews.
