Thanks for that; I had assumed, with the considerable reduction in services, that there would be no need to use the 319s.
That's alright. :)

Nope, there are still a few getting around.

All the services I said about are all penciled in as a '321' so 319.

I know for a fact 2N73 EUS-NMP & 2N75 EUS-NMP are always a 319 as I've seen them many many times. The other workings I can't guarantee as I don't see them.

How come they've dropped one of the sets to 8-car? They were all 12 before, weren't they?
Unit availability, having a further spare on standby should there be an issue on the Abbey Line rather than have to split one off a 12 car set at some point. Capacity and passenger numbers allow it during the second lockdown as figures have fallen around 50% from a couple of weeks ago.
According to the figures 2B14 carried 64 passengers into Euston this morning, an 8 car is more than enough at present.

I know this could be off thread; but is the continued use of 319s on LNR to reduce the use of 350/2s? It was said at the time of the franchisee change that the 350/2s had low fixed/high mileage based charges because they were originally intended to run mainly in the M-F peaks, so it would be logical to keep the 319s running and lay up the 350/2s to save on charges. Just a guess, though

That is one of the benefits, the /2's are certainly used less intensively at the moment. There is also the /1's modification program, plus the corrosion repairs and re-liverying as a separate project, and also the /4's are going through a mods program too.
Using the 319's allows all this to happen.....

That 319 shown in the above picture is 319380. It's only just visible from passing trains. If nothing blocking view only side numbers can be obtained. I saw 319378 in Liverpool still with Northern last month and I believe 319364 is at Long Marston.

319380 has gone from Northampton EMD to Eastleigh today behind 57312. I guess this may be another unit for Orion/ROG

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
Thought it would be best to create a thread for this rather than clog up other Thameslink related threads about the 319's heading to storage. This thread is also to keep track of both Thameslink and Northern 319's in storage

Sad to see these leaving the Thameslink network, but hopefully they'll all find a new home to go to.

The Class 319's are now all withdrawn from the Thameslink fleet and some withdrawn from the Northern fleet and are in storage in the following locations:
Stored at Long Marston

364 is off lease.
434, 442, 448, 450, 456 and 458 have been converted to 769s for Northern.

319364 is stored, presumably at Long Marston.
319377 is at Eastleigh for conversion to a parcel unit.
319378 is still with Northern.
319421 and 319452 are now TfW Rail 769s.
319436 is now a 769.

In addition, 319425 and 319427 are listed twice and 319444 is missing from the list.

Not to mention the units still in service with LNR are not listed...
They’ve not been withdrawn yet and probably won’t be until the Class 730’s enter service, but I can list them if you wish...

Fair enough, many of the ones still in service with Northern won’t be off lease until around the same period as the 730 introduction will release the 323s replacing them.
