I was of the understanding that 350s were now fitted with ASDO (automatic selective door opening), the way to identify them being so fitted being the new displays of "coach A of B".

Are they actually fitted with it? If so when will it be rolled out to be used?

They are still reliant on the rather basic UDS, hence why Rugeley is 'front 4' even though it's long enough for 6 coaches, for example. The guard needs to be in the appropriate cab to do so.

No, and no plans afoot to do so. Extending platforms is the way forward, no need for expensive unreliable Asdo systems if the trains fit.

£70M-tram-that-didnt-happen-white-elephant PTE Merseytravel still have a lot to answer for with South Parkway, only a hundred grand or so for longer platforms on two of the tracks.

Which they’re in the process of organising now, 10 years later, probably at much greater expense.
