That's almost certainly a car from a 165 set. GWR operate plenty of those. What it's doing in Ilford is anyone's guess!
Can’t be a 165 or 166 as windows are not that curved on those but they are on 365 also 165 smaller windows usually have a opening window to if I remember correctly.

No it isn't. Early Networker windows (such as the 166s) are more rectangular, the window frames are also metallic grey on the GWR Turbos. That's a late Networker (365/465/466) body in the picture. Proper mystery this is!

It's certainly EMU not DMU - The bogie appears to have an earth return brushbox and APC reciever mount visible.

Well I'd say its more likely a Turbo than a cl365.. there's no small windows near the gangways...

That looks like a 365 to me alright, this window aligment being opposite the non-disabled loo. Looks like no seats in it either?

Think its one of the coaches/carriages off the 365 involved in the Potters Bar Crash.
Looking at Flickr pictures of 365526 (the Potters Bar crash unit) parked at Crewe, at least 2 of the coaches were fitted with BR B4 coach bogies, as fitted to BR Mk2s.

That's a 365's trailer coach with the non-disabled toilet. Where was the photo taken?

Its a 165/166.

The vehicle does not seem to have the anti-override plates on the headstock.

It’s definitely definitely a Networker vehicle, not a 165/166 - the window layout is a giveaway as is the reduced length from doorway to vehicle end which would be longer on a 23m 165/166.

I’d suggest it may be 72290 from 365526, which was reported at some stage as having been at Ilford. Wouldn’t like to suggest what it’s role is nor how it came to gain GWR green though.

There are no GWR 165/166 vehicles at Ilford at present.

Funny how one photo can cause many a mis identification.
Don't think I've ever seen so many conflicting suggestions!

Maybe it's GWRs plan B for releasing 387s for HEx, because the 769s are so delayed...

There aren’t any 387s going to HEx. They will still be GWR 387s!

So we can assume it's a Potters Bar crash vehicle that's not on B4 bogies (probably 72290), and it's just been painted GWR green (without vinyl decals) by the paint shop at Ilford as a test vehicle.
