Hi ,
I ordered a ticket from trainline.com and it just arrived today, the ticket I ordered was from London Euston to Cardiff central .

Having one change from :

London Euston - London Paddington - Cardiff Central.

On the ticket I received I have written from U12 LNDN - to Cardiff Central.
Is it correct ?

I would appreciate all replies as it is the first time I am travelling alone.
Many thanks :)

That would appear to be correct, meaning that your ticket is valid for a journey on the London Underground from Euston to Paddington in order to allow you to connect onto your train to Cardiff.

Yes, your ticket allows you to travel from anywhere within Zones 1&2 (which naturally includes Euston) to Paddington in order to get your train to Cardiff. So you can get the Circle/H&C line from Euston to Paddington, then onto the GWR train.

Yes, that is correct. It's been issued from London Underground Zone 1/2 to Cardiff. As rg177 said, this is to allow the cross-London Tube travel from Euston to Paddington.

For future reference don't use thetrainline. They charge a booking fee which you can avoid by buying your tickets from the website of any train operator (for instance, GWR).

Yes this is correct.

You can get a direct sub-surface train, if you walk out of Euston station the short distance to Euston Square, and take any westbound train heading towards Hammersmith, alighting at Paddington (doors open on the right hand side). This takes you to the rop-right of the station plan shown here: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stati...ions-made-easy/london-paddington-station-plan and this is ideal for transfer to the Cardiff train using the footbridge, without any need to go to the concourse.

However if you prefer to visit the concourse at Paddington, and/or you prefer to go straight down the escalators at Euston, to the deep level tube lines, you could take the Victoria Line from Euston underground station, take any southbound train (destination: Brixton) to Oxford Circus, then transfer to the Bakerloo Line northbound (various destinations; any will do) from Oxford Circus to Paddington.

I have had tickets from Liverpool to U1 London. I would assume the add on cost for U1 London would be cheaper then U12 London so I wonder why the OP was not given this? Perhaps it is not available on every flow into London Terminals.

At current prices, a paper ticket for a Zone 1 tube journey costs the same as a Zone 1+2 tube journey. In addition, the off-peak fares on Oyster or Contactless are the same.

As John@Home says the prices are the same - perhaps the principle is to offer the ticket that gives more validity, if it's the same price.

The add-on price for U1 and U12 is the same (though this hasn't always been the case), however, staff knowledge about travel in London varies across the country (which can be for good reason), so some will tend to put only what you need on the ticket.

Tickets bought through internet sites, apps, and on TVMs will vary by programming and user input.
