Hello,
Can't seem to find anything online.
Can anyone tell me what the working shift patterns are for a train conductor working from Cardiff central with TfW?
Thanks

Hhhmm good question have you done training yet? If not when do you start?? I’m guessing it’s a 35 hour over 3 or 4 days covering early starts and late finishes but I know that’s no help !!?

I start training in Feb. I found this on here (although it relates to Chester), I'm wondering if it's the same shift patterns in Cardiff? I thought the shifts would be 4on, 3off (depending if it's my Sunday to work).
I did ask at interview, but they couldn't tell me then.
I'll have to pop them an email.

4 day week with Sundays outside the working week till 2025, 3 week rolling rest day pattern, week 1 Mon and Tues off, week 2 Wed and Thur off, week 3 Fri and Sat off, so long weekend off every 3 weeks. Shifts are a mix of earlies, lates and nights with everything inbetween

Earliest start is around 02.43, lates start anywhere between 12.00-18.00 with nights being 20.00-22.00, these are currently the most extreme starts, valley guards shifts are not quite so early or late but same rest day pattern. All this is subject to change with more services planned for the future.

i have recently applied for the talent pool for Cardiff valleys and currently going through online tests. the role of Cardiff mainline has come up now, can i apply for this also? the following message is displayed

We are actively recruiting for our Trainee Train Conductor talent pool located at Cardiff Mainline only.

- Please only apply for one depot. If you are within a suitable travel distance for more than one depot, this can be discussed at interview stage.

I'm pretty sure that you won't need to apply just let HR know that you'd like Cardiff mainline
