Crosscountry First Class food and drink from Penzance?

We want to leave Penzance on Monday 5th May with the 8.40 Crosscountry to Edinburgh. Is there a reasonable expectation that a (simple) breakfast will be offered in first class? That is to say between Penzance and Plymouth. According to the Crosscountry pdf timetable that seems to be the case. However I find the info here on this forum more reliable! Thank you.

I don’t believe Cross Country have catering between Penzance and Plymouth, or at least when I did Aberdeen - Penzance last week there was no catering after Plymouth

I got this train 0840 from PNZ yesterday- the first class host had drinks ( instant coffee) and biscuits ( and excellent fruitcake) from Penzance. But the hot bacon buns and lovely coffee bag coffee were only available from Plymouth. Having had a cooked Hotel breakfast that was ok for me. Another host offered sandwiches after Bristol- the hot mozzarella and pesto panini was satisfying (with my home purchased beer). I made use of the Penzance Coop opened at 0700 for some emergency supplies, then back to hotel Penzance for excellent cooked breakfast at 0730

When I used the comparable train about 15 years ago, there was no catering until Plymouth. Perhaps XC have realised that GWR’s offering for Cornish passengers is a bit derisory and there’s money to be made offering something more substantial.

I had coffee and biscuits twice on the 09:10 service from Penzance to Plymouth on Thursday. Porridge and a couple of other things were also available, so I didn’t think that was too bad for the £13.95 first class fare (with a railcard, booked a while ago)!

Hallo Mainliner, thank you for your comments. Are you sure the 9.10 was a Crosscountry-train? 9.10 is at the moment a Great Western service.
