Gantry collapse at Westbourne Park Crossrail site

A gantry at the Crossrail site at Westbourne Park station in West London has collapsed over tracks, bringing work there to a halt on Thursday afternoon.

The gantry, part of a conveyor system transporting excavated material from the tunnels to the freight trains, and the hopper, which feeds excavated material into wagons, tilted into an individual wagon.

There were no injuries as a result of the collapse.

Network Rail closed the adjacent track to our site as a precaution to enable further investigations to be undertaken.

This must of been the incident that affected lines into Paddington yesterday then !! Hope nobody was hurt.

Has been reported in several articles - No injuries luckily, but it must have cause quite a bit of disruption.
