Looks like you now have to subscribe to it
I know cameras and the running of aren't cheap, but they're not horrendously expensive either. Anyway, I hope enough pay in to keep it going.
Personally I'll give it a miss, but if there had been a simple *please donate* button via paypal I would have obliged.

Maybe there's a *free* link but I wouldn't have thought so?

I've just had a look and it's very expensive for a single webcam feed in my opinion- £20 for a year! The webcam is of high quality and it is a very scenic part of the country. I have watched the webcam for a short period of time on a few occasions, but never enough to justify a £20 subscription!

I understand they have to at least cover their costs, but that price is too high. From watching YouTube videos and reading posts on this forum, it is apparent that many rail enthusiasts are teenagers and young adults, the majority of which won't be able to justify or afford to pay that money for a webcam.

I've been tempted to donate £10 to Railcams for a while. If you register, you get free access to webcams across the country (and I believe many are being upgraded to HD) and the donation gives you access to one or two more webcams plus live signalling diagrams for much of the network, and the coverage is growing. I haven't registered for even the free part of the site yet, but I know what I'd sooner spend my money on.

It's a shame because the webcam is good, but I'm sure many enthusiasts will have the same opinion as me. :(

Just to clear things up from our side (Railcam), Dawlish Beach Cam was featured on our site railcam.org.uk but the cam is not owned or maintained by us, it was provided to us by Dawlish Beach Cam at dawlishbeach.com

To cover costs Dawlish Beach Cam decided to make the camera a subscription based site, but we at Railcam couldn't fit that into our structure so we have sadly lost the feed from Dawlish now.

We offer cams at all our locations free of charge, and we will never charge to view them. The only 2 cams that are kept for 'Supporters Only' (Those who make a donation of £10 or more for a years access) are from sites that feature 2 cams, York & Euxton. So there is always going to be a free to view cam at each of our sites. As mentioned above there is also the Live Signalling Diagrams we give access to for those kind people who donate to Railcam. I will stress that every penny from donations is put straight back into the site, we take no payment from Railcam. Donations have covered all our recent cam upgrades, running costs and the installation of 3 new cams which will be coming online in the next couple of weeks.
