Devon and Cornwall Railcard Validity at 08:44

I have a Devon and Cornwall Railcard and I'd like to make a weekday trip from Dawlish to Exeter.
According to the terms of the railcard (https://railcards.gwr.com/content/termsconditions.aspx?r=DAC), it's only valid on journeys starting at 08:45 or later. However, when I search for tickets on the GWR website with the railcard selected, it applies the discount to the 08:44 Dawlish departure (but correctly not to the previous 08:38 departure).
Would I be safe buying and using the ticket shown on the website even though it's technically 1 min too early for the railcard? Many thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

There might be an easement somewhere to allow this. But regardless of that, if the railway are offering to sell you the ticket for that itinerary my understanding is that they're obliged to accept the ticket as valid. So print off / screen shot the itinerary offered when you buy the ticket (or if they send you an email with the itinerary in it, keep that) and have it to hand should anyone want to argue the point.

Yes, there is a local easement if travelling from Dawlish towards Exmouth for the 08.44.

Full list of local easements:

Exeter St Davids/St Thomas/Central towards Okehampton (including Crediton) - valid anytime
Barnstaple towards Exeter Central - valid after 0835
Umberleigh towards Exeter Centra - valid after 0843
St Erth – St Ives (and all inclusive stations) both directions - valid anytime
Plymouth towards Gunnislake (and all inclusive stations) - valid after 0824
Netwon Abbot/Totnes towards Penzance - valid after 0829
Dawlish towards Exmouth only - valid after 0844

Thanks for the advice! Was all fine in the end but good idea to screenshot the itinerary just in case it was questioned.

Thanks for this. I've since found a D&C railcard pamphlet from a few years ago mentioning the 0844 service although curiously it's not mentioned among the easements listed on the railcard website. Good to know it's still valid though!
